No room for Pro Life Democrats

I left the Democratic Party a few years ago because of the dominance of “pro-choice” and pro-gay forces, and yes this is depressing. But as long as the Republicans are pro-greed and pro-guns, I won’t consider joining that party.
Hear hear.

Numerically I hold agreement with Democrats on more issues and to be honest, a pro-life democratic party would basically negate me looking at the GOP with much seriousness. While democrats are pro-choice I remain independent.
And I fall into the camp with others where I’m just sickened by both parties when it comes to abortion. I’m sickened by Democrats parading abortion as a sacred right and I’m sickened by Republicans adamantly refusing to offer the necessary services to solve the underlying issues beneath abortion, such as maternity leave, prenatal care, ect. It’s times like this that I think of the phrase “a Catholic is like a foreigner residing in a country” and feel it ring true when neither party champions an ideology that’s truly compatible with my faith.

Virginia and North Carolina are getting bluer…
And Arizona and Texas.
They are and mostly because of mass immigration for some of those.

If the GOP can overcome it’s problems on race, it could stabilize in those states (maybe except Virginia) and even reverse this trend of becoming bluer.

You Americans have too many states. Please merge a few for the world’s convenience. Thank you.

I’m more alarmed by where the Republican Party wants to take America. For instance making the rich richer as if they aren’t already rich enough while not adequately caring for the lives of the sick of those not rich.
In what way did the last 8 years make poor people ritcher?

From your perspective, you’d better hope people don’t figure out the Republican Party’s mantra is make the rich even richer with tax cuts as if they aren’t already rich enough while leaving sick people without healthcare coverage.
Making the rich richer would mean stealing money from the lower and middle classes and giving it to the rich. A tax cut is just letting them keep more of what they earned. And Obamacare, which, in theory, was supposed to help the poor, punished them with a fine if they couldn’t afford it. Oops.

Virginia and North Carolina are getting bluer…
And Arizona and Texas.
You know something, if you told me one year ago that these states were turning blue, we would have given anything for that. And you know something? You know something? Not only are we getting Arizona bluer, we’re getting Texas bluer, and Virginia, and South Carolina, and South Dakota! And we’re getting North Dakota bluer, and New Mexico, and California! And we’re getting Oregon bluer, and Washington, and Michigan!! And we’re going to Washington DC to take back the White House!!! YEAH!!! (HOWARD DEAN SCREAM STYLE!)

Sorry, I couldn’t resist doing the Howard Dean Scream, considering this thread was about what Howard Dean said :D:D:D

Nice graphs… They show big drops in the Clinton and Obama years, smaller drops in the Bush and Bush years after the peak under Reagan. Go figure.
I mistakenly put 1981; it was actually 1980, the first of Reagan’s 8 years in the presidency.

What you say, then, is simply that whonis president has little to do with the numbers or rates of abortion, since President Clinton vetoed the PAB bill and Obama was more pro-abortion than NARAL.

Yet Trump won. How did that happen if what you say is true?

:rotfl:. That happened when I was in middle school and it’s still hilarious.

Once again if you can’t afford a child, refrain from sexual intercourse. I have said it before and I say it again that at some point personal responsibility need to be in the equation.

Mary.
Because rape and abusive relationships don’t exist…

There’s no room for prolife democrats in the Democratic Party.

And there’s no room for prolife Democrats in the Republican Party either. 😊 We are sort of homeless. 😊 I’ve been registered as both. Now I’ll probably be independent.

Making “pro-life” policies that allow for more accessible delivery policies and maternity is one issue – the most important issue that makes the right to life possible (because obviously if there are any economic barriers to getting to be born, that’s a problem.)

Monitoring the sexual habits of people is another, entirely different, issue for a different thread.

There’s always room for consistent “pro-life” Democrats. As to whether there’s room for anti-abortion Democrats – abortion foes who don’t consider prenatal care, affordable delivery and maternity policies on par with the rest of the world to be essential “pro-life” policies, that may very well be true.

As far as Rape and incest goes they account for less than 1% of abortions (abusive relationships are hard to say since they are usually not reported)

Hey I am totally ok with outlawing 99% of abortions for now, that’s a pretty good start. We can get the other 1% after we do that.

Of course non of this is the actual current argument in the political world. Unfortunately no one is proposing a complete outlaw of abortion but restricting it to certain periods and whether they should be tax payer funded. Of course we have some wacko judges saying its illegal not to fund taxpayer abortions, what is going on in their head I can only wonder.

I don’t really get your point. I fully agree not enough has been said about affordable delivery etc… (I am still paying off my wife’s birth bill 2 years later) but attention paid to those worthy causes does not make murdering children ok. Its not ok to murder 40% of children to 60% can have great medical care…

Both issues are Pro-life and both need to be pushed. I am very eager to see if Trump pulls through on his paid maternity leave campaign promise.

I have always thought that when backed into a corner and forced to abandon pro-life that Catholic democrats would choose pro-life over the party of death. I at the very least expected these Catholic democrats to denounce that pro death position. Instead, I see these Catholics deflecting and attacking to cover up their support for abortion. I don’t mean outright saying they support it, but the deflection and attacking does just that.

I am really surprised. I have come to the personal conclusion that most Catholic democrats simply care little about it.

Because rape
So you would impose the death penalty on the *other *victim of the crime where you would not impose it on the actual perpetrator?

You know that only half of those who become pregnant as the result of rape abort?
and abusive relationships don’t exist…
And killing the unborn baby fixes that?

I agree and I don’t understand

Abortion seems to be the Democrat fix for everything!

I believe they’ve expanded “pro-life” to allow more exceptions like incest and the physical and even the mental state of the mother.
