“Pro-life” also means affordable prenatal care and delivery costs so the unborn baby’s mommy can afford the hospital bills. Even WITH insurance, having a baby is way too expensive - yes, “pro-life” does mean all human lives, including the unborn baby’s mommy.
So pro-choice is the opposite of pro-life, so does that mean that pro-choice is for expensive prenatal care and delivery costs? Does pro-choice exclude the unborn baby’s mommy?

Well, according to many here at CAF “pro-life” only refers to unborn babies slated for elective abortions. They’ve gotten upset with me for using a broader definition.

But I do agree with you that it means all human lives.
Since pro-choice is the opposite of pro-life, does that mean that it is against all human lives?

As someone who regards “pro-life” to include prenatal care and delivery expense - because, really, how can that not be part of what means it be to “pro-life”? – I honestly don’t know how more expensive it keeps getting to choose life. I’m not aware of any “pro-choice”/pro-abortion folks who think either option is in any way affordable ($300-$400/abortion compared to $25-$30,000 for choosing life – obscenely expensive.)

An obscenely high price for a life??

My thoughts exactly! Life is now a dollar sign
Tell that to the hospitals and bill collectors hounding the baby’s mommy for choosing life. No, life’s NOT a dollar sign. Being born shouldn’t be such a hardship. It’s NOT a dollar sign – never was, never will be. That’s not “pro-life.”

I have never heard of a hospital hounding anyone. Our local Catholic hospital forgives debts of those who can’t pay at the end of every year, wipes them clean.

Castlight’s data shows that the average national cost for a routine vaginal delivery is $8,775. The national average for c-sections is $11,525,

You always equate costs of an abortion with a live birth and yet run and hide with challenged with how that is like comparing Apple to Ostriches you run and hide

You always equate the cost of an abortion against the cost of delivering a baby as if the two are remotely similar.

In abortion the abortionist sees the one patient one time - perhaps twice and intends to kill the second one. The abortionist does not care to keep the child’s body intact - and knows he will suffer no lawsuits over that babies death and few if any should the woman die - abortion is the Golden Calf … nothing will be allowed to threaten its hold on society. Abortion clinics do not have to meet the regulatory standards of any other medical clinic. Abortion doctors do not have to have standing or practice rights in any Hospital … want to change those laws - the abortion industry will fight you too and nail - if they loose the legislative fight they turn to the courts and - Abortion is the Golden Calf

With a pregnancy - both patients are treated and receive care by the doctor for a period of 8 to 10 months regularly. The doctors practice in a regulated clinic, they have to meet standards as do all of the staff - there are regular tests performed on both patients and if any thing happens to either that doctor and clinic face legal ramifications. That doctor has to be affiliated with a hospital. The hospital is also regulated and held to the highest standards of care and face legal ramifications if problems arise. Throughout the pregnancy there are tests that involve technicians and labs … at every step of the way up to delivery, during delivery and post delivery.

No woman needs an abortion due to health care cost … funding would be provided to any woman how asked for that assistance … and there has always been health care available to those without insurance and unable to pay …

👍👍

👍

I’d feel much more comfortable working to make abortion illegal (the stick approach) if various aids and programs were in place to make it easier to have and raise children (the carrot approach).

No?

I guess it depends on where you live.

I had a horrendous accident about 25 years ago. No insurance. I was young, I was between jobs for what I was pretty sure would be a very short time, and the cost of purchasing a health insurance policy, even on a short-term basis, was prohibitive.

I was in the hospital for about a week, maybe 10 days. Can’t remember. Had a couple of rounds of surgery.

The hospital hounded me for years. Ruined my credit rating. It took me years and years to get out from under that.

And (obviously this was before the ACA), since health insurers would not cover pre-existing conditions back then, when I did get health insurance (when I was able to walk again and return to work), I couldn’t get the follow-up care I needed.

I still have pain, and difficulty walking, because of that.

For a single mother (let’s say the conception was by rape so there’s no 'space ‘em out’ argument) that lives below the poverty line, $20k for choosing life, plus a loss of income from pregnancy, especially if they don’t put the child up for adoption, means homelessness. Abortion is wrong, yes, but so is ignorimg the heavy financial toll choosing life takes, especially given the impovershed are the majority of those seeking abortion.

This doesn’t jibe with what I heard from a friend who worked with a Seattle adoption agency. Her experiences matched with the information below, which I found with a cursory net search. I redacted the name of this agency as I do not wish to provide advertising on CAF, but there are lots of places where one might receive support through a pregnancy, including medical support. My friend’s agency provided housing, medical care, and counseling as well as a cost free adoption.
In our area, babies may be dropped of at fire stations with no questions asked. Here’s a quick copy/paste from one adoption site:

Free Adoption for Birth Mothers

In modern day private domestic adoptions, adoption is always free for birth mothers, with the adopting family usually covering most or all of the expenses.

Some of the free adoption services that birth mothers receive include:
Code:
Medical expenses
Legal expenses
Counseling services
Living expenses
And more
Furthermore, future correspondence between a birth mother, her child and the adopting family is also free for the birth mother. Postage and handling for letters and pictures is often built into the adoptive family’s overall cost of the adoption, so the birth mother will never have to pay to stay in touch with the family and her child.

That’s like saying it’s ok to justify killing someone for $25-30,000 dollars.

The fact is that if you want to fix societal problems then you need to address them at their root, and that will include material incentive. Simply morally condemning people without addressing why something happens isn’t going to make a difference.

The bigger fact is that it is intentionally taking the life of a human being. That is the “root”, but I bet we both agree that each of us need to provide help to those who need it.

My hat’s off to your local Catholic hospital. Evidently it’s not part of the “Mercy” system. They’ll come down your chimney to collect.
