Jesus called himself The Good Shepherd. Work it out!Accordingly, unless the gates of hell were to prevail, there could never come a time when Christ’s sheepfold would be deprived of its shepherd.

And so He is. What’s to work out?Jesus called himself The Good Shepherd. Work it out!
Well now. This could be another thread. Here is another difference that Holy Orthodoxy has with the RCC. Are you saying that original sin is transmitted like a virus? Are you saying that the Virgin Mary was not born with original sin?What part about original sin, its transmission to the human race and the Incarnation don’t you understand?
Only if The Anglican Church in England goes like ECUSA I think.Could you be next?![]()
Also coredemptrix, Queen of Heaven and Peter being the first Pope.Other innovations include imaculate conception amd papal infallibilty/supremacy.
Oops the discusions turned into a cock fight.How shameful it is that God destroyed the English monarchy and that Islam now is rising to become the religion of England.
Do you imagine that England is starting to feel a little isolated and like a little island of insignificance in the grand scheme of things yet?

The belief in Purgatory is an excellent example of what is meant by the Tradition of the Church. When it is challanged, when we are asked to cease praying for the dead, it is sufficient to answer, “But we have been praying for them since the time of the Apostles.” The mere fact of praying for them implies the belief that these souls are not yet in heaven, nor hopelessly lost in hell; that they will reach heaven in the end; that our prayers help them. And this, duly weighed, is seen to imply further that the bond which holds together God’s spiritual family or communion is not mere justice, but LOVE.Well first off, we must always look at context. These early Christians certainly did not have the same conception of the 13th century innovation.
If Christ is The Good Shepherd, The Pope isn’t.And so He is. What’s to work out?
How convenient for Jewish men to push the idea that God subcontracted out their salvation through their husbands. Do you imagine that those who died as children or left widowed were left on their own?A Jewish Woman had a covenant with her husband who had a covenant wiith God.
Baptism = Circumcission
Eucharist = Passover.
The early Church had the Jewish blueprint. No one started making things up until Rome split from the east.
And what does that make Luther - the good goat herder?If Christ is The Good Shepherd, The Pope isn’t.
It’s like a pagan saying now I’m a Christian I don’t have to stop sleeping with lots of differant women because I always have.The belief in Purgatory is an excellent example of what is meant by the Tradition of the Church. The Church says Mary was born without original sin. I believe that to be true.Well now. This could be another thread. Here is another difference that Holy Orthodoxy has with the RCC. You’ve lost that bet.How convenient for Jewish men to push the idea that God subcontracted out their salvation through their husbands. Do you imagine that those who died as children or left widowed were left on their own?
And I bet you think that the Jews being delivered out of slavery to the Egyptians to delivery to the promised land had nothing to do with a prefiguring message of Jesus rescuing humankind from the bondage of sin and delivery to the promised land of God in heaven and that the manna that fell from they sky in the dessert was not prefiguring Eucharist. And that Melchizedek blessing Abraham was not prefiguring Jesus as High Priest
It’s you that needs to do that.Please try to get some theological depth and get out of the narrow fundamentalism that prevents you from seeing the truth.
It seemed to work for Henry VIII when he appointed himself head of the Anglican Church so he could sleep with any woman he wanted. But I guess bowing to earthly kings and repressing any opposed to tyranny has always been the tradition of bloo, er, jolly ol’ England yes?It’s like a pagan saying now I’m a Christian I don’t have to stop sleeping with lots of differant women because I always have.
Why, then, did Jesus give St. Peter the keys to the Kingdom of heaven and the power to bind and loose and promise him the gates of hell would not prevail against the Chruch?If Christ is The Good Shepherd, The Pope isn’t.
You’ve obviously lost the argument and are resorting to abuse.And what does that make Luther - the good goat herder?
The keys are for everyone. We’ve been over this already.Why, then, did Jesus give St. Peter the keys to the Kingdom of heaven and the power to bind and loose and promise him the gates of hell would not prevail against the Chruch?
RC tradition from the 13th century onward.The belief in Purgatory is an excellent example of what is meant by the Tradition of the Church.
Wrong. You are to make no judgement about whether anyone ends up in heaven or hell (purgatory is an innovation). You pray like the publican and ask for God to have mercy. God is the only one who knows the fate of souls.The mere fact of praying for them implies the belief that these souls are not yet in heaven, nor hopelessly lost in hell; that they will reach heaven in the end; that our prayers help them.
Would you care to expand on that for us, please?It’s like a pagan saying now I’m a Christian I don’t have to stop sleeping with lots of differant women because I always have.
The why didn’t Jesus say they were for everybody? He told St. Peter and the Apostles that they had the power to bind and loose.The keys are for everyone. We’ve been over this already.
You mean in the same manner that it becomes obvious to even a child that Anglicans lost their authority to ordain priests and convert Eucharist at mass when they were excommunicated from The Church? The abuse is to common sense.You’ve obviously lost the argument and are resorting to abuse.
The Lord keep you and bless you
The Lord cause the light of his countenance to shine upon you
And give you peace.
The blessing of God almighty, The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit be with you.
Amen
