Notre-Dame cathedral Paris is on fire

Of course God doesn’t “do our bidding”. God’s will is his own. When I pray the Our Father, it’s THY will be done, as in God’s will, not MY will be done, as in my own.
Tis, yet preaching to someone who had quit the choir. I know that tune. I’ve sang that one, it’s in my posting history.
God is right there though, no matter how much you try to wish him away. He loves you.
I don’t have to wish anything away. I just stopped pretending.
When we flag without saying anything, people complain about stealth flagging.
There should be some etiquette for this but, if I had to guess, I think Miss Manners would say don’t announce it.

Yet you’re still on the Catholic forum, responding. Why’s that? When people “quit”, they go away and don’t come back. They don’t hang around continuing to engage.

As for your Miss Manners point, there are 50 different opinions on “flagging etiquette”, all of which have been posted at some point in the Feedback forum. As usual, I just do what I think is best.

It’s good that some people were inspired by the attention given to Notre-Dame to help people and communities unknown to them to rebuild and heal after an act of hate.
Yes that is good. It shows how powerful the influence of Christ’s One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church is. Hopefully some will convert to His Holy Church, including Native and African Americans.
Holy cow…did you really just say that? :joy:Triumphalism is indeed a good word to describe that post. Maybe pull back on the 16th century colonialist narrative.

So is nobody going to ask how they ruled out arson within hours of the fire?
Seems a little fishy
I’m sure if they immediately said it was arson, people would wonder how they found out so quickly. Either way it’s not entirely ruled out, as the fire is still under investigation.

I looked on Amazon Prime and they’re out of stock for wicker space heaters. Figures. Whenever it’s something I read want…

I would also include any other self-identitfied American minority group, as well as all other nationalities and ethnicities. Why wouldn’t a Catholic want to see all in the Catholic Church?

I’d also include any extraterrestrial races we might encounter, by the way (following Vatican astronomer Guy Consolmagno).

This is a conundrum to me, why some stay in these forums after rejecting the Catholic Church. I suppose it’s a good thing as it indicates they haven’t really or fully rejected the Catholic Church. Something is holding them back…

Just clarifying what I meant. I retract nothing since I believe the Catholic Church alone contains the fullness of faith and truth.
If I didn’t believe that, why would I stay? Why wouldn’t I join a church that sanctioned my sins, didn’t demand that I change, didn’t hold to obligatory Sunday Mass, didn’t have such demanding theology in general? That would be sooooo much easier and there are many churches like that.

They’ll probably determine it was faulty or negligent or unwitting actions on the part of the restoration crews.

I know, right? It sort of turns the whole “Dark Ages” label on its head.

I’ve been on this forum going on checks stats two months shy of 15 y e a r s. Like said earlier, it’s a tough habit to break. And I’m known for doing what people expect; and I didn’t quit the forum and there are plenty of non Catholics on the forum.
As for your Miss Manners point,
Codified netiquette would be ideal. Too many cooks in the kitchen leads to no one knowing what the right thing is.

I have no problem with you or anyone else who isn’t a Catholic posting, but you do have to be respectful of Church teaching and belief given that the vast majority of us on here are Catholics and aren’t leaving. And also that the TOS requires it.

according to my french newspaper, the notre dame cathedral cannot be insured because she belongto the French State who is his own insurer.
And it is almost impossible to estimate is value…

Sort of the other way around. The French government “insured” Notre Dame because no one else would. It basically means that there was no insurance as all, as the owner was responsible for all costs.
And it is almost impossible to estimate is value…
That is the primary reason no one would insure it.
