Now illegal for churches to have a drive in Sunday service

Church with huge parking lot has a drive in service, people stay in their cars, then drive out. This is now illegal, because of ‘covid restrictions’.

Police and tow trucks on scene.
Happening in a Canadian province.
Not clear how many were fined.
This is not a Catholic Church.

Seems we all need to keep our lamps full of oil… the persecution will continue.
 
I live in Winnipeg and the virus is out of control here - the hospitals are almost full ICU is almost full - a 10 year old died of the virus 2 days ago and many have died - health care people are exhausted - Springs is a non denominational church a TV church and Stienback is a religious Mennonite town east of Winnipeg - it was once a dry town I remember as a kid they still went around in horse and carriage - very religious town mostly Protestants.
I will remind people of Bishop Gerald Glenn, the pastor of New Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Virginia who said
“I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus. You can quote me on that,”
He died days later from the virus.

Maybe the Catholic Forum could have become better if they had allowed people to post articles on World News but with no comments.

Each person can then look at the news article and read what they want. No comments and no arguing or writing 300 plus posts defending the article.

Why is that funny. You said you are on another forum already which you enjoy and only see this site as just going down.

Many people like these forums but there was a need for improvement. Anyone could post on World News but disable all comments. Same in Popular Media., only leave open discussions in the forums where there is religious discussions.

Posters can read what the want and ignore the rest.

Yes because I would see an an article such as this and post it but I never intended to do 200 posts defending it.
I am on another forum and couldn’t give a monkey’s about this one really now. It’s a dumpster fire of people posting mad conspiracy theories and snarling like junkyard dogs and in four weeks it will no longer exist.

Our goal in life to to reach Heaven, not live forever. Sounds like the bishop practiced what he preached.

There were ways to improve it as I said with disabling comments and making it more religious which was its purpose. No one expected to end so abruptly

They were better when properly moderated but even back then 10 years ago there were always threads on subjects such as a bill on gay rights, a simple article, and it would become 500 posts., This happened, day after day, more articles, and 100 plus posts. so not much has changed.

Our lives were given to us as a precious gift to be nurtured and cared for.

Not to be squandered recklessly and stupidly.

The Church is pro-life. Not pro-get-to-heaven as quickly as possible. We are to be ready at all times, not hasty.

Perhaps had the « bishop » been more careful, he’d still around to minister to his flock in time of need.

CAF intent was to be a religious forum. I’ve heard others say there are other religious forum and they are limited on what they can post. You are on another forum, so are there rules on what you can post.
 
I think this is only forum that a catholic can post religious and or political stuff.
 
I am suggesting a limiting, maybe a limiting of threads and comments. Others have said the are on religious forums and they are only allow a limited discourse so why can’t CAF think about that and allow the Catholics on this site a limited discussion.

Keep the forums but radically change them.

The problem is that message boards such as these are an anachronism and have been for some time. They are difficult to monetize the way Facebook and social media in general have been. The sense I got from the letter CAF’s director posted is that it’s simply not worth their time and effort to keep it going. Which is unfortunate for us but not something I begrudge them in any way.

Others have said they are already on other Catholic forums but they are very limited so why not copy that and keep the posters already on these forums.

It would be a radical change but what is the difference if you break up this forum and everyone splits in different directions.

If I remember the gospel from a couple of weeks ago, the slave who buried his talent in the ground was admonished. There is nothing that I have read that indicated that the bishop was reckless in any way.

Again, nothing I have read says that he was not careful. It is uncharitable to say that he was.

How many Catholics have died without a priest at their side, administering extreme unction and moral support, because of all of this?

The comments take on a life of their own. A simple article can become 500 posts. Many will go to other Catholic forums but my understanding is that they are very limited.
