Nra calls for armed police officer in every school

Why should a gun owner pay a tax for armed guards? We don’t want or need them. The tax should be paid by people who DON’T own a gun, because they are the ones that are in need of outside protection. Smokers should pay a tax because smoking cigarettes isa disaster for your health and the health of the people around you. 99.9% of gun owners are no more of a threat to anyone than a Buddist monk. Why should they pay extra for anything. In fact, gun owners are LESS of a burden on society than non-gun owners. The ones that are placing the burden on society should foot the bill.
This is in line with the NRA’s calls for armed police officers in every school. Others are suggesting more controls, to reduce the number of guns that fall in to the wrong hands. Now, yet again, a gun rights advocate diverts any responsibility, or inconvenience, to those that want guns, with no more restrictions.

There, we have two suggestions of protection. If we follow the NRA’s suggestion, then gun owner’s should be taxed, otherwise we have controls. Either way, it’s going to be a financial burden on those who demand a ‘right’ to own their guns.

Ah, gun owners demand the “right” to own a firearm. I guess we can also use your ill-thought out line of logic to reinstate poll taxes for women and minorities who demand the “right” to vote.

On another note, it worries me that your thoughts on something as fundamental as gun ownership can be so easily swayed by an internet forum discussion. Your position has seemed to go from just wanting increased controls to bans on certain firearms to now gun ownership not really being a right but a “right.”

Between your misuse of political terms, apparent lack of understanding of Constitutional theory and history, and how easily swayed you are in regards to what is a right and what is a “right,” I would highly suggest you enroll in a structured course in American political theory, American political history, and Constitutional theory, history, and law.

Women and minorities live in this country and have as much right to vote, or else no one deserves that right. It’s not endangering as smoking, or demanding an unfettered right for all to own guns.

My opinion has changed, once I realized the arguments against any controls didn’t make any sense, coming from ‘law abiding’ and safety conscious gun owners. I’ve seen paranoia about the government taking over, or being prevented from taking over because of the armaments already in the hands of people. I’ve seen a borderline ‘vigilante’ mentality, that seems to desire an opportunity to shoot some one. So, yes, I am concerned about who is allowed to own a gun, and that many already own guns.

I’ve been through the school of hard knocks and common sense, so please don’t talk down to me. I remember, and know, what it’s like to be proud to be an American. Those who suspect the government, minimize, and dishonor, what our service men and women are placing their lives in danger for, in my opinion.

As I’ve tried to explain, there seems to be a hypocrisy according to the partisans in control.

According to you they don’t. I say this because the document that guarantees women and minorities the right to vote is the very same document that guarantees the right to own a firearm. Since you seem to think gun ownership is a “right” you apparently do not view the Constitution as a valid source for what is a right. Hence your logic leads me to the conclusion women and minorities voting is just a “right” and therefore they should have to pay poll taxes for the added burden they present the system in regards to them voting. So either your views concerning gun ownership being a “right” are incorrect, your views concerning women and minorities having the right to vote are incorrect, or you’ve discovered a yet unheard of document that is the real source of American governance and the American political system. If its the last, please link it as I know a lot of people who have been wasting their time studying the Constitution in the mistaken belief that it’s the founding document of our political and governmental systems.

Put whatever spin you see as necessary to defend gun rights; however, you neglected to add the line about the lack of danger from voter’s rights and the dangers of smoking, or guns. Kind of changes the ‘view’ when you add that information in, and necessary to draw a ‘conclusion’.

Smoker’s pay a tax because of the dangers of smoking and the burden it places on the healthcare system. Gun owners who don’t think securing guns is a necessity should pay for the police guards the NRA is calling for. But no, according to gun owners, it’s not a burden, even in the face of guns being stolen and used against the public at large.

There is no Constitutional right to smoke that such a “tax” or even (health) “insurance” (as some have proposed for firearms) infringes upon.

OCG is right, taxing an essential right (part of our “Bill of Rights”, no less) would be no different from poll taxes for African Americans, or women. Rights shouldn’t be taxed.

Here’s reasonable, in my opinion. Smoker’s pay a tax, because of the burden the ills place on the healthcare system. Gun owners should pay a tax, so we can have those ‘armed guards’, at the facilities where guns have burdened our society.
We could make the tax real high. High enough so that only the wealthy can afford it. So the only people allowed to legally own guns will be the 1 percent. The elite, the ruling class…
Guns already have sales tax and in my state, a tax for fish and game. If we put some kind of armed guard at each school and taxed guns in the thousands of dollars range we could effectively make it so most Americans cannot have a right that is given to them.

Let’s see, tax something so that only the elite can afford it… Seems to me there was some kind of war fought for that.

The NRA is off target with it’s call for armed guards.
The anti gun crowd is off target with more regulations.

The real culprit cannot be defeated with guns, or with regulations of guns. The real culprit is the devil himself. Bulletproof. The only thing we can do is protect our families through prayer and maybe a .45.

Historically, “gun control” laws have been used to oppress minorities. See the Disenfranchising Act in England or the Black Codes in the antebellum South.

Gun owners have no responsibilities in the problem, even those who guns are not secured safely and end up in the wrong hands. It’s someone else, the public, who suffers, but that’s the way it is when you don’t buy into the culture of death and arm yourself. That’s what this is. I’m armed and ready to kill someone who trespasses against me! That’s not a conversion of hearts we are to be seeking. That’s not an example of the culture of life we claim to have. Christ taught us how to pray, forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us… He didn’t teach the answer is to be prepared to kill anyone that trespasses against you. Yes, the Church teaches the definition of legitimate self defense. The Church also teaches evangelizing.

I’ve had my words spun, been talked down to, and other lacks of charity displayed for my view. You know what, it doesn’t matter. It only matters that one sees the intent of my heart. He sees the intents of all our hearts. Pray, reflect, pray some more, then act on your conscience…as if you’re going to be accountable for all that you did one day.

I’m unsubscribing and I’m convinced we have too many guns, in too many hands.

I have been a gun owner for 27 years, and not one of my guns has ever gotten itself into trouble on it own. WE follow the NRA’s suggestion, either we give up the retarded idea of making the world a gunless Utopia, or the people who refuse to see reality for what it is pay up for armed guards to do for them what they refuse to do for themselves.

The whole IDEA of gun control was crafted by a corrupt politician named Tim Sullivan, who had connections to the mob. His friends in the underworld were tired of being shot by potential victims, so petitioned Sullivan to propose legislation that would disarm them.

CRIMINALS are the ones who came up with the idea of gun control. There is your history for you.

Sullivan also played upon people’s fears that those “undesireable” Italians, Jews and Poles might have access to firearms. Anti-Immigrant sentiment was pretty high in 1911.

Oh, and while London had virtually no gun laws and New York had the Sullivan Act, the murder rate in New York was still twice that of London’s.

Ya…Timothy Sullivan…the son of Irish immigrants. The Irish were safe enough, but them Poles, Guineas, and Jews were a threat to society…

Wait, what was the nationality of the the 19th Street Gang or the Whyos or the 40 Thieves, or the Dead Rabbits? (there are more…)

Respect my choice not to live in a world where I have to be concerned about getting caught in the crossfire of people who believe it’s an infringement on their right to require proper registration, training, etc. Gun rights have infringed on many Americans, who had a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They’ve lost all those rights, but they won’t complain from the grave.

Remember your rights the next time you buy a vehicle, or a home.
you have every right to die in crossfire, just as I have the right to shoot someone trying to shoot me. Again, no pro-freedom gun owners wish to force you to own a gun, yet you’re content to force your unwanted edicts on all

PS

You can own all the tanks, grenades and launchers you want, just be prepared to pay a fortune for them and do a lot of paperwork.

Perhaps if you review just how our country was founded and if you understand our constitution and the Federalist Papers that inspired it, you might have a better understanding of why we have the right to bear arms in this country. Just because a few mentally ill people engage in the improper use of such weapons is no reason to ban their ownership and use by law abiding citizens.
