Nuns wearing MAGA masks spotted behind Trump at rally

I heard the Central Park Five explained the other day. It is so long ago but I think they were saying even the city attorney was black and wanted to throw the book at then.

Did they initially admit to it?
"They admitted they were guilty"
Around a month before the 2016 election, Trump stood by his opinion that he believed that the five men charged for Meili’s attack, who have since been exonerated from the crime, were still guilty.

“They admitted they were guilty,” Trump said in a statement to CNN in October 2016. “The police doing the original investigation say they were guilty. The fact that that case was settled with so much evidence against them is outrageous. And the woman, so badly injured, will never be the same.”

That’s what I read as well and was going to mention. Democrats were doxing them - or trying to.

More nuns as political activists? No thank you.
Praying outside of abortion clinics, taking in women in crisis, counselling women considering an abortion…those are the sorts of pro-life activities I would associate with religious life…not lauding a non-Catholic politician at a public rally while promoting the very secular, very worldly “Make America Great Again” slogan (implying America used to be great when it was an extremely anti-Catholic country?).
I’m not judging these individual sisters…but in general, I just don’t see how political rallies for ANY secular politician align with religious life.

And to be fair, the stereotype of the screaming crybaby Democrat thirsting to stamp out individual rights for ‘the collective’ is equally offensive. I only addressed the Republican stereotype here because the poster I’m responding too really thought that the ‘average’ Republican was ‘the stereotype’. He or she isn’t. Nor is the average stereotyped Democrat.
No, I live in Texas so I know plenty of Republicans. They’re my friends and relatives. And they’re very good people. They’ve helped us out many times when we needed it.

For that matter, I’m not even addressing individual Republicans. I’m talking about the party as a whole. With its platform and its actions the Republican Party embodies the stereotype. Trump embodies it powerfully.

To bring things back to the topic a little, I don’t think the picture of the sisters will cause much scandal for Catholics. We know that the Church is the biggest “big tent” in the world. But for Protestants, at least the ones who do good in the world and who expect to see a consistent Church-wide witness, I think it will be a source of great scandal indeed.

I wasn’t and am not a fan of the loss of habits. I also think nuns/sisters aren’t treated with as much respect because of the loss of the habit, though I can’t prove that.
So how were nuns/sisters respected back in the day when wimples were a normal part of a woman’s everyday dress?
No idea. My comparison was between an earlier period during my lifetime and our contemporary time.

Au contraire. Christ the King is above politics. We may have to involve ourselves with politics to make our communities work, but this is all peanuts compared to the kingdom of God. We should be focusing on that end and religious should help us to do that.
Christ is King of kings and as such, politics and temporal affairs should be brought into accord with His rule.
Absolutely – no argument from me.

Of course, I’m still guessing that we disagree about how to bring things into accord with His rule.

But if you’re hated by the people who are doing the work of Christ in the world (healing the sick, feeding the poor, comforting the afflicted, freeing the oppressed) then that should raise some red flags.
Hmm. The Church is doing the work of Christ as you described it and then some. Perhaps the haters need to learn a bit more about our faith and works. The following article gives a quick overview of some of the things the Church is doing right here in the United States.
But, of course, the Church is a universal Church and does not limit itself to serving on the local or national scale. If you scroll down, you will notice a reference to serving 85 million souls, in 101 countries, in 2014 alone.

Something that Catholics and many Protestants share, especially the Evangelical communities, is a committment to doing good in the world through protecting the lives of the preborn. When polled they tend also to support Mr. Trumps bid for a second term in office. It’s quite possible that some of them were standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the sisters.
Religious freedom is an issue dear to many Protestants who will be watching as the Catholic church continues to defend the right to deliver medical services without being bullied into providing contraception or abortion. For these too, re-electing Mr. Trump is important.
It would be really unfortunate if some Protestants helped put a president into office who then used executive orders to curtail their ability to practice their faith.

Stop thinking so clearly and using facts to back up your assertions. Also, stop answering questions with such concise, logical rebuttals.

Don’t you know, whenever people debate these issues, they are supposed to make outlandish, rude claims with no logical reasoning? Also, haven’t you heard, you must insult a person’s intelligence and education while failing to respond to their questions?

😉

Because Jesus said to lobby and pay unto Caesar so Caesar can care for the poor, the hungry, the homeless, the sick, the imprisoned …

I know many conservatives who give of their hard earned money to feed the poor - AND they do not give only of their money but their time - volunteering at food pantries, soup kitchens, helping families find employment, opening their homes to women with children so they can choose life over abortion. They donate and volunteer expecting nothing in return.

I am so sick of having pro-choicers state that pro-Life people only care about babies before they are born and not after … the fact is - we provide tons of assistance before birth, after birth and for years - to single moms and families.

Most of the pro-Life people I know also support food banks, programs to end homelessness and poverty. They support and assist people learning English and those who cannot read, learn to budget their money, help with recovering from addiction. While the pro-Live movement is their top priority - they are very involved in creating healthy communities and generally helping people lead productine healthy lives.

they abandon their status as religious?
It our responsibility as Catholics to speak up. President Trump is perhaps the most actively pro-lie and pro-religious-liberty President in American history, and Harris/Biden might be the most pro-choice and anti-religious liberty major team.

You can repeat that talking point all you like. These nuns could have worn pro-life masks. They didn’t. They wore Trump masks. They could have worn Vatican masks. They didn’t. They wore Trump masks. They could have worn masks saying “Christ is King.” They didn’t. They wore Trump masks.

With no disrespect intended, I’m baffled that people don’t see the difference.

Yes, I understand that. I’ve made my point here on several occasions — you’re free to read those earlier posts if you like.

Eric Bolling, Fox, tweeted out “guess whose rally”, but I see some mask. I wear a mask in public always. No date for this but it could have been over the weekend with cold weather in some states.
