There are better ways to manage SS and Medicare. And it could be argued that SS and Medicare need to be overhauled. No doubt this could lead to greater savings or more benefits for people that actually need it.
Read up on the Galveston Plan as a substitute for Social Security, which could be installed on a sliding scale basis AND with "Galveston 1, Galveston 2, etc … lots of variations that people could pick and choose from … choice in retirement safety net.

And another successful example in the Chilean Plan:

Let individuals have unlimited Roth IRA’s. Instead of the 100 page Pub 590 baloney limitations.
Instead of Medicare, use the Indiana Plan.

Allow both tax credits and full tax deductibility for medical expenses, on a sliding scale based on income and allowing patients and health care providers to work on the cost issues. Tort reform to eliminate “defensive medicine” … meaning minimize the uncertainty from law suits. And use “loser pays” [you can buy insurance to cover you in case you lose.] Allow charitable funds to be fully tax-deductible to help cover truly chronic miserable cases. Allow hospitals to sell health insurance. Allow doctors to sell health insurance. We need a wide variety of plans that people can choose from. By the way, my Amish friends pay cash for health care.
Instead of government benefits for illegal aliens, use the Eisenhower Plan.
Ringil, haha yeah isn’t that the truth. Sometimes I feel like a one person choir. So I sure appreciated yours and others voices tonight!
