I always thought there would be unwelcome unintended consequences from this law, but I didn’t think it would be as blatant and sudden as this. Maybe single payer healthcare would have been a better option – and a harder sell.
Why have multiple countries with single payer turned to part privatisation? Is it that single payer health care is financially unsustainable?

Top Dem Admits: ‘We Knew’
House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer conceded to reporters today that Democrats knew people would not be able to keep their current health care plans under Obamacare and expressed qualified contrition for President Obama’s repeated vows to the contrary.
“We knew that there would be some policies that would not qualify and therefore people would be required to get more extensive coverage,” Hoyer said in response to a question from National Review.
Asked by another reporter how repeated statements by Obama to the contrary weren’t “misleading,” Hoyer said “I don’t think the message was wrong. I think the message was accurate. It was not precise enough…[it] should have been caveated with – ‘assuming you have a policy that in fact does do what the bill is designed to do.’”
Hoyer noted that people losing access to their current plans are mostly in the individual market, which is a small segment of the overall market. He also argued requiring those plans to follow new mandates and regulations was important for ensuring those plans included “adequate coverage so the public would not have to be on the hook for serious illnesses or other illnesses.”

Entry on Barack Obama’s website from 2012

barackobama.com/truth-team/entry/obamacare-separating-fact-from-fiction
#3 Romney distortion: “Obamacare also means that for up to 20 million Americans, they will lose the insurance they currently have.”
The facts: False: If you like the insurance you have, you can keep it. The only thing that’s changed is that your coverage is stronger. Here’s how:
  • If you had a lifetime limit (and about 60 percent of employer-based plans did), it’s been lifted.
  • If you have a child under the age of 26, they can stay on your plan.
  • Insurance companies can no longer discriminate against children with pre-existing conditions.
  • Starting in 2014, insurance companies will no longer be able to deny anyone insurance based on pre-existing conditions, helping up to 129 million Americans get the care they need.
  • Insurance companies will no longer be able to charge women more than men for the exact same coverage.
  • 54 million Americans already have access to better preventive services, free of charge.
  • If you get sick, your insurance company can’t drop your coverage, and if they deny you a treatment, the law makes sure you have a chance to appeal.

I wonder if there will be any political repercussions whatsoever for Democrats lying so overtly on the signature piece of legislation? This ASA will be the legacy of this current administration.
Benghazi lies were a million miles away for the lives of most Americans. This however is something that will affect people very directly. I am not sure that most Americans really care though.

So partial socialization with Obamacare is a catastrophic failure, and your solution is more govt? Go full-bore with the socialization?

Astonishing.

Could you please point out some areas where govt has shown even marginal competence to be trusted to handle something like this?
It seems to work pretty well in Canada.

At 55, I was paying about about $400 for myself after COBRA. How’s that?
Here’s another example…or a lying liar who lies…you choose:

suntimes.com/news/marin/23352031-452/obamacare-jacks-up-her-insurance.html

When Klinkhamer lost her congressional job, she had to buy an individual policy on the open market.

Three years ago, it was $225 a month with a $2,500 deductible. Each year it went up a little to, as of Sept. 1, $291 with a $3,500 deductible. Then, a few weeks ago, she got a letter.

“Blue Cross,” she said, “stated my current coverage would expire on Dec. 31, and here are my options: I can have a plan with similar benefits for $647.12 [or] I can have a plan with similar [but higher] pricing for $322.32 but with a $6,500 deductible.”

She went on, “Blue Cross also tells me that if I don’t pick one of the options, they will just assume I want the one for $647. … Someone please tell me why my premium in January will be $356 more than in December?”

Ironically, the Congressman she worked for was a Democrat, and part of her job was defending Obamacare. She put up with a lot of angry constituents…now she is one of them.

Democrats are also saying Obama could have phrased his plan retention pledge more accurately. “I think preciseness would have been better,” House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, the second-ranking Democrat in the House, told reporters.
Obama in 2009, while building support for the bill that would become the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, repeatedly said that Americans who liked their doctors or current healthcare plans could keep them. He reiterated the promise as recently as March.
‘ESSENTIAL’ BENEFITS
Now that the law is fully coming into effect, Americans are receiving notifications from their insurers that their current plans cannot continue because they do not cover certain “essential” benefits such as preventive care and mental health services as required by the law.

And after … (today)

youtube.com/watch?v=_OzH-MW-KvU < Woman receives Obamacare

He lied and should be ashamed for misleading people on the guise of “helping” the poor. I really don’t even believe it is for the “next election” in 2014 or 2016. His misguided world view is harming the country he was elected to represent and defend.

youtube.com/watch?v=_OzH-MW-KvU < Woman gets woozy, faints during Obama’s long repetitive speech.

youtube.com/watch?v=6GqGCXEsero < full speech. Fainting occurs at about 26:00 as the POTUS tells how Obamacare was saving someone $900 per month in healthcare costs. :hmmm:🍿

The most mysterious thing about this was, as they took her away she had a strange appurtenance attached to the back of her right arm. You see it as she is lead away 26:10 on the clip!

😉 - Not really a conspiracy theorist here. But it was too strange not to mention. YouTube critics are posting previous famous fainting episodes at Obama speeches where he is involved in the “rescues”. 🤷

This poor woman (Karmel Allison) gets sicker as the speech goes on, then collapses altogether.

Wonder who she was, what her story was, and how she got the front row seat – or -
temporary standing room? She is pregnant (upon further research).

Divine intervention? Or should I just put my tin foil hat back on? At this point I’ve become comfortable with both scenarios.

Just in time for Halloween we have 5 horror stories …

townhall.com/columnists/johnhawkins/2013/10/19/5-scandalous-obamacare-horror-stories-n1727584/page/full < all contained here … but gathered from elsewhere including:
  1. Man with leukemia loses his health insurance: Michael Cerpok is a high school drop-out, one of six kids born to a school teacher, and doesn’t come from a wealthy family. He has run two businesses for more than 25 years and says he may have to do more to literally stay alive.
  1. I was laughing at Boehner until the mail came: Cindy Vinson and Tom Waschura are big believers in the Affordable Care Act. They vote independent and are proud to say they helped elect and re-elect President Barack Obama.
Yet, like many other Bay Area residents who pay for their own medical insurance, they were floored last week when they opened their bills: Their policies were being replaced with pricier plans that conform to all the requirements of the new health care law.
Vinson, of San Jose, will pay $1,800 more a year for an individual policy, while Waschura, of Portola Valley, will cough up almost $10,000 more for insurance for his family of four.
“I was laughing at Boehner, until the mail came today,” Waschura said, referring to House Speaker John Boehner, who is leading the Republican charge to defund Obamacare.
  1. Premiums will cost 25% of their after tax income:: Take, for example, Jacqueline Proctor of San Francisco. She and her husband are in their early 60s. They have been paying $7,200 a year for a bare-bones Kaiser Permanente health plan with a $5,000 per person annual deductible. “Kaiser told us the plan does not comply with Obamacare and the substitute will cost more than twice as much,” about $15,000 per year, she says.
  1. Liberal blogger at the Daily Kos: Hey, Obamacare’s doubling my monthly premium: My wife and I just got our updates from Kaiser telling us what our 2014 rates will be. Her monthly has been $168 this year, mine $150. We have a high deductible. We are generally healthy people who don’t go to the doctor often. I barely ever go. The insurance is in case of a major catastrophe.
Well, now, because of Obamacare, my wife’s rate is gong to $302 per month and mine is jumping to $284.
I am canceling insurance for us and I am not paying any f%$@ng * penalty. What the hell kind of reform is this?
  1. ) Obamacare “has raped my future” My name is Ashley Dionne and I’m a 26-year-old recent graduate from Michigan.
…I went back to school and got a second degree and finally found work at a gym. I work nights and only get 32 hours a week for eight dollars an hour. I’m unable to find a second job at this time.
I have asthma, ulcers, and mild cerebral palsy. Obamacare takes my monthly rate from $75 a month for full coverage on my “Young Adult Plan,” to $319 a month. After $6,000 in deductibles, of course.
Liberals claimed this law would help the poor. I am the poor, the working poor, and I can’t afford to support myself, let alone older generations and people not willing to work at all. This law has raped my future.
It will keep me and kids my age from having a future at all.
This is the real face of Obamacare and it isn’t pretty.
And for desert there’s this CBS video about an LA woman whose $199 per month policy just got cancelled and replaced by …

cbsnews.com/8301-18563_162-57609224/arrival-of-obamacare-forcing-insurers-to-drop-customers-with-low-coverage/ < the first story. ad precedes video. 🤷

Yeah. I noticed our liberal CAF posters have been mysteriously quiet as of late when it comes to Obamacare. I’m guessing they are waiting in the hope that it will get better, so they can say “see, evil, racist, bigoted conservatives who hate the poor and elderly…Obamacare does work!”

I hope they aren’t holding their breath waiting for improvement. 😛
OFA hasn’t sent out the latest talking points? 🤷
