Sin’s of individual’s are being held up and discussed openly for partisan reasons. If not gloating, it’s for partisan reasons and not spiritual reasons, please show us the Church teaching instructing us to openly discuss another person’s sins and then to make personal judgments as to that person’s disposition as laypersons.

Where is evidence that the Church proper has excommunicated anyone, including evidence of communion being withheld.

Some appear to want to divide the body of Christ and separate others permanently. No one can assume an authority upon themselves.
Are you accusing the Bishops who made the public statements of making them for “partisan reasons?” Hardly.

These aren’t private sins. They are very public, thumbing their noses at the Church, scandalous sins. The Bishops are rightly letting people know that, no, it is not okay to publically support and advocate a woman’s right to kill her unborn child and then present yourself as a faithful, communion-receiving Catholic. It is extremely important to the Church that the Bishops do this, so as not to have your average Catholic in the pews confused by the Church’s apparent acceptance of such things.

I am not going to speak ill of any bishop; however, we have different instructions on voting every election, from bishops. Why would that be? Of course partisans grab the one they can use to support a particular view.

Oh, our sins are not between us and our confessors? And so what if it’s a public sin, where are we allowed to ‘gossip’ about them? When you determine others ‘evil’, or ‘good’, even you have talked outside your authority and judged another person and the intent of their heart.

I also think you tend to label conservatives as non-sympathetic money worshippers. Believe me, they are not. Many of us work in soup kitchens, bake casseroles for the homeless shelters etc.

I myself volunteer to cook and serve homeless pregnant women and women with children at Our Lady’s Inn in St. Louis. Why are they on the street if there is so much help from the government? Our Lady’s Inn teaches them to love their babies and not use them as commodities for welfare. They have stop-smoking classes, parenting classes, life skills classes. I believe programs like this do more to help women out of poverty than any federal government program.

God bless.
You’re a grand person, Christine, doing what you do. But how many “Our Lady’s Inn” type of operations are there in St. Louis? How many women and children are being helped? How many private programs are there in the Gateway City?

You sometimes rightly knock airhead liberals for our atttitudes as we sometimes rightly focus on skinflint heartless conservatives, but is there not room for both - the federal and the private programs? Working towards the same goals and not at cross purposes?

I know that NYC would be SOOL if it depended on private reconstruction efforts regarding the infrastructure, but I also know that food and water aid did well coming from both public (National Guard) and private sources (Red Cross). 🤷

You obviously have no clue of what you are talking about. What could the pro-abortion/choice politicians possibly be keeping between themselves and their confessor? They broadcast their sins on a daily basis and proudly state that it is okay to be Catholic and support abortion. That is public sin. It has nothing to do with gossip.

It doesn’t matter how I convey it, those who want to use the two edged sword against others will do it.

As Catholics we are to hate the sin, but love the sinner. That’s not evident in these discussions and when one tries to being attention to it, it can’t be considered as there are more important things to accomplish through those type actions.😦

Let’s simplify it; are the sins being discussed, or the individual sinners?

Let me get this straight. Sinners who support abortion in any instance for any reason are to be left to their confessors, but candidates who are for limited abortion are to be raked over the coals at will? So we are to be silent about those committing the greater sin?

Again, it may not be the case, but it sure seems that you are covering for one side (the one with buckets and buckets of blood on their hands) while being a Puritan with regard to the other.

Maybe it’s just me.

Yea, the moral candidate, who is not held to account for those things less than moral. That’s the problem of a two party system. One is forgiven, the other is condemned. There is no difference, except some are using Church teachings to place one above the other.

I love this! St. Edwards High School (Lakewood, Ohio) held a mock election back in 2004. Obama won by 8%. They just held their 2012 mock presidential election and Romney won by a 2/3 majority! FOX News just did a report on the election from the Ohio school.

There is hope for the future!

Early Ohio numbers promising for Romney

ABC News/Washington Post Poll: 14 percent of voters who supported Obama in 2008 are moving to Romney
The closer race shows another way: Among likely voters who supported Obama in 2008, he’s retaining 83 percent this year – but 14 percent are moving to Romney. Romney, by contrast, is retaining more of John McCain’s supporters, 94 percent, and losing just 5 percent to Obama. That said, Obama’s making it back among new voters: Seven percent of likely voters say they did not vote in 2008, and they favor Obama widely, by 62-34 percent

No, it’s not just you.

Together they’ve almost spent 6 billion dollars…
Of course not many are concerned that this makes the highest office in our country up for sale.

More high class behavior from Obama supporters. An Obama re-election organizer is facing charges that he “grabbed” a Loveland woman’s breasts while giving her a campaign sticker on Tuesday, police said.

Luke M. Buchanan, 24, of Washington, D.C. is charged with unlawful sexual contact, a misdemeanor. The victim’s name was not released. She is 21 years old, police said.

He has since been fired from his job with the Colorado Democratic Party.

“The female reported an adult male knocked on her door, identified himself as a member of the Obama political campaign and asked to speak with her about her voting status,” Loveland police said in a statement Thursday afternoon. “The victim reportedly spoke with the male for a short time and he then asked if he could give her a campaign sticker. The victim accepted and the male allegedly grabbed her breasts while applying the sticker to her shirt.”
Now it would not be at all just to blame the Obama campaign or the Colorado Democratic Party for the behavior of this deviant. Please don’t assume that I am doing so.

But why is it that deviants like this seem to be attracted to the Obama campaign?

*(NB: For those who would say that the GOP has as many deviant crazies, in my experience, the far right kooks tend to not come toward the GOP, because they tend to believe that the GOP is part of the great illuminadi conspiracy and are part of Da Beast just as much as the Democrats are…)

*On edit: another example would be the recent MoveOn dot org ad. I won’t link to it because the ad contains a huge amount of vile profanity coming out of the mouths of some senior citizens…would not be appropriate for this forum…even to link to such a thing…
