Okay…I’ll bite…how is commenting on the factual difference in Obama’s percentages from 2008 “partisan glasses?”
Dude, I’m not trying to argue any points, and admitted I didn’t really have a point, other than there are enough polls right now that people who use them are in affect showing a misplaced trust, hope, or trying to sway others. Let’s wait until November 7 and see what the real poll says.

I have asked a couple of genuine questions and would very much appreciate some answers to those questions…

I came late to the party. I saw a request by ringil asking for someone to come to his defense.

I’m a conservative Republican, but I can tell you that ringil is a straight up guy, the kind of guy you share fine Scotch and a few fine hand-rolled cigars with over reasonable political discourse. Perhaps he could then be convinced of the error of his liberal ways! 🙂

Lawyers and therapists have a lot in common. They charge by the hour and the ideal client is wealthy, stubborn, and wrong. 🙂 I try to avoid the need for both, professionally.

I have both in my extended family, and I love them anyway.

Thanks Dave. 🙂

I must say that I will share the scotch and conversation but if I were to partake of a cigar having never done so, the consequences could be messy. 🙂

Nice to meet some friendly Conservatives around here.- fine folks who have earned my respect. 🙂

Got a question. I am really up in the air on this election. I have considered not voting, writing in a candidate, and even voting for Romney, because of those espousing ‘Church teaching’ on the matter.

The Church teaches that no one can do evil so that good may come from it.

As the election draws near, Romney has started ads about Jeep moving it’s head office, and/or 2000 jobs, to China. This is panning out to be false, according to spokespersons for the auto makers. Chrysler and GM have now come out and spoken on the matter and denied the validity of Romney’s claim.

Assuming it is misleading, which is a polite way of saying ‘lying’, what is the Church’s stance on supporting a candidate in this scenario? Is it acceptable for a candidate to say whatever is necessary, do evil, to be elected, so that good may come of it?
This issue came up at an Opus Dei class on the subject of morality tonight. Your quote “[t]he Church teaches that no one can do evil so that good may come from it” comes directly from the Catechism (1789 on page 441). Of course, Romney should not “do evil” to be elected. However, as a Catholic, you may vote for the Governor in view of the two major candidates’ positions on the intrinsic evil of abortion. Clearly, Romney’s position, though imperfect, adheres more closely to the view of the Church.

So a candidate’s willingness to distort truth in one area, for the sake of being elected, does not take away any credibility in other areas and must be accepted as the lesser of two evils for the possibility he will do as he states?

So long as the wealthy, stubborn and wrong client pays his retainer on time, therapists and lawyers (like me) are very happy. Avoid us when you can. 🙂

Fine. Sip my Scotch and I’ll smoke the extra cigar. 🙂

**Christie Keeps His Priorities Straight During Sandy Ordeal **
On the question of whether Mitt Romney might go to New Jersey to tour the damage with Governor Christie, he said, “I have no idea, nor am I the least bit concerned or interested. I have a job to do in New Jersey that is much bigger than presidential politics. I could care less about any of that stuff… If you think right now I give a damn about president politics, then you don’t know me.”
One of the Trite Trio on Fox and Friends really got it handed to him when he tried to turn a disaster update into a Romney moment. Good for Gov. Christie…this may be a Republican I can vote for in 2016.

Compare Romney’s credibility and abortion stance with Obama’s and decide where your vote will save more lives. If you so discredit Romney’s truthfulness that you sincerely believe he will renege on his abortion position, don’t vote for either candidate. I happen to believe Mitt is generally truthful, a good man, and fully deserving of my support as a Catholic voter.

Yes, Gov. Christie has really been a class act throughout this crisis.

Seeing folks put their politics aside is so refreshing.

‘Generally’ truthful…

I will decide based on whether Romney decides to continue the same ad over what the auto makers say. I am most comfortable when I think of not voting for that office this election. 🤷

Romney agreed, saying that Christie is doing his job and holds nothing against him for doing so. I’m with Mitt. Christie is acting as the Governor of NJ and rightfully so. The disaster trumps politics any day.

Look, I’m not begging for you to vote for Mitt Romney. Don’t vote if you aren’t comfortable with a candidate. I am. I will vote for Mitt Romney with a clear conscience.

Mmm…my Glenlivet Nadurra and Ashton VSG are really calling my name right now…
Never had either. But there’s always a first time. 🙂

All right, time to hit the sack, so I’ll catch you guys later!

Don’t forget tomorrow is a Holy Day of Obligation. Off to Mass ladies and gents!
