I’d say, “maybe.” God doesn’t put men into office. He allows them to be put into office. Consider the Popes. Did God put them into office? No. Look at some of the very poor choices the College of Cardinals made over the centuries.

So, what did God do for the men who became Popes? He sent the Holy Ghost to protect the Faith, the doctrines and dogma because the men didn’t count, but only the eternal teachings of the Catholic Church.

He sure did, in almost every case, through the power of the Holy Spirit working through the Church/Cardinals.

Well said, Ladyann. If Obama wins, the American people can never claim that we don't *deserve* the tragedy of a collapsed Constitution and financial system. Why, one may ask? Because if Obama loses, he knows that anyone hired under the Americans with Disabilities Act may not be fired. So, he is putting in place as many career appointees as possible to undermine a new administration. Can you say “lawless fiends”, boys and girls? They’ve thought of EVERYTHING to undermine our great country!

When I say “prudential judgement” I do think that the decision is different for a Catholic in Ohio than one in perhaps California. In California, Romney is likely to have no chance (although one can always dispute that), so I would argue the decision to go third party there is different than in Ohio when there is a much higher likelihood that one’s vote really is going to matter.

She is going for Halloween as a strawberry even though she was the same last year. I think she has the concept that Halloween costumes are like Christmas trees- must be the same each year.

People have chosen so many ‘biased’ stories, that cannot be classified as news with a straight face, just as long as it reflected poorly on the other candidate. For me, it just takes away any credibility that may have existed. I am not totally stupid and think all people should be offended at some of the things that have been passed off as ‘news’.

If God were involved in elections, Hitler would never have been elected (he was, he didn’t just seize power) and in America, God would not have permitted pro-abortion politicians to have been elected and for that curse on our country to remain. And, He would have seen to it that “the right choice” in accordance with His will would always win.

Being a Deist or a Catholic has nothing to do with it IMO. Deists don’t care about abortion, so you can’t shift blame onto them.

My prayer vis-a-vis elections is that they be conducted honestly and that we do not have strife or riots, etc. in their aftermath.

If God was involved in “anything”, cancer, famine, and death wouldn’t exist!

Sometimes God allows that we do not want because He knows we need it. He will also spare a nation if but one good person exists.

You are welcome to your opinion of the efficacy of prayer, but it isn’t grounded in anything other than your opinion. To assert it page after page begins to come off as demeaning those who do see it as useful, including posters, here, the Bishops, ETWN, most of our Churches, and families.
