am I the only person who knows current military, everyone please look up the cost of 1 battleship, or 1 aircraft carrier or destroyer, then tell me how much it will cost to add 200 plus ships…let me know when you get into the billions if not trillions. and thats no counting the arms on board…1 cruise missile costing 1,410,000…

and the whole thing about fleet size, is wrong, bush had a smaller fleet size under his rule, but thats not the point, the point being a battle group can do more today then it ever could then, in fact 3 ships could do more then a fleet then.

and romney is no saint, not that obama is.
Nobady said that we need 200 battleships, aircraft carriers, and/or destroyers. It was 200 ships totle. All three types need support ships which would be incluled in the 200 or more ships. Even dumb little ol’ me could figure that out! :D:p

RNC: Check Out Our Early Votes in Swing States!
Rasmussen has Obama up 2 in NV, 50-48. Was O+3 last week. Romney up 22 w/ indys. Sample is D+5 (was D+8 in 08, D+2 in 2010)
Rasmussen: All tied in Ohio
NV: Republicans have seen 62% growth in early voter turnout compared to this point in 2008, while Democrats have only seen 14% growth
KEY: Across 8 battlegrounds w/ party ID: GOP +2.13% from 2008; DEM -5.85% from 2008. Net swing of +8% for GOP @rick_wiley
OH: Net swing of +13.54 percentage points for Republicans from 2008
NH: Republicans lead Democrats by over 5 points in absentee ballot requests in New Hampshire’s key towns
IA: At this point in 2008, Democrats led by almost 24 points in early voting. Today they lead by 8.3 points
CO: Republicans won the first day of early voting in Colorado. In 2008, Republicans lost early voting by nearly 4 points. @rick_wiley

:hmmm: actually they are arguing about the drastic reduction in active fleet size not about deploying new ships. The admiral chief of the navy has warned that with the reductions that are contemplated they will not be able to maintain safe seas. Quoting from him, “the world has not shrunk”.
The navy maintains security in the seas which ensures the commercial traffic that keeps the world economy going.
There has been recently and I think everyone is aware of, acts of piracy, in the horn of Africa as well as in the yellow sea.

Shrinking navies will only embolden those bent in commiting acts of piracy.

Romney supporters aren’t enthusiastic at all, but they aren’t hostile either.
Aren’t some, even many, of Romney’s supporters hostile toward Obama’s policies or Obama himself?

BTW, can any grammarians tell me which is correct: “hostile toward” or “hostile against”?

I think the point being made was that Romney knows more about the Navy (even though he was only governor of Mass.) than Obama who has been president 4 years apparently knows.

:clapping:

He can be taught, Ishii, he can be taught 🙂

“My vote won’t matter” is the same claim that the apathetic and uninformed make, when they choose not to vote.
Are you really going to tell me that it matters who a conservative in Vermont votes for in the Presidential election?

Come on melzerboy…keep up. 😉 I was commenting on the difference between campaign supporters in 2008 & 2012.

I could care less if either side is hostile to the candidates or their policies. It does little good to bring supporters to your side if you yell at people who ask questions about the candidate you support. Especially if those questions are from someone who hasn’t decided on who they will vote for.

That got a chuckle. 🙂
Rich got that idea from me. In 2008 we had an Obama and a McCain sign in our front yard. Obama from my daughter, McCain from me. My liberal neighbors didn’t get it. I said my daughter had a right to her opinion. They were flummoxed, apparently, that a conservative allowed this, because they said she was welcome to discuss her ideas at their house.

DUH, why would they assume I was quashing her ideas when I allowed my front lawn to be used for an Obama sign???

I live in a condo now and we’re not to put out signs on the lawn or in the windows! 🙂

That’s great that you support your daughter interest in Government.

If my daughter, one day, expresses such a desire- to put up a sign for a GOP/conservative candidate I would do the same. 🙂
