I should have said… voted for Obama.
I admired GW Bush, and Bill Clinton for sticking to their platforms. Both of them were predictable, in that way. Obviously, neither of them were perfect as leaders, and if you liked one of them, you probably disliked the other one. But I am referring to the basic integrity of saying what you mean to do, and then trying your best to do it.
President Obama has not done that. He speaks vaguely, and makes the same promises he made in 2008, but did not act upon. Governor Romney changes his positions, each time the winds shift. He is obviously saying whatever he thinks will win votes from his base, and from swing voters. My sense with each of them, is that they are not trustworthy, and that they are unreliable. It bothers me more that Romney is apparently untruthful, when he really has no cause to be. Lying is far too easy for him, in my opinion. That only comes with practice, and appears to be a pattern of behavior. I can’t stomach listening to that. He is not as Machiavellian and hard hearted as VP Cheney was, but he sends that same chill up one’s spine when he looks you straight in the eye, smiles, and tells a lie. Spooky.
This trait seems to be common with successful businessmen, and it is not an admirable one.
