Interesting, I don’t remember discussion about stark problems with the Dem party when they lost 2x to Bush. I do remember a lot of accusations of stolen elections though.
I remember those sorts of accusations last election too. Sooo glad there was no ACORN around this time.

If you killed someone, then no. But abortion is not something we have enough proof on to say if it’s killing a human. We don’t know when life really starts, and you know this is why we don’t all agree.

Surely if you believe we should be told what to do, then you support Obama’s health care mandate, right? I don’t support the mandate, but I do support most of the other parts of Obamacare.
Not human? Is there even a single case in history where someone other than a human being was born from the natural procreation of a man and a woman? What else biologically could possibly come from such a natural union.

Additionally, you do know that fertilized embryos have been DNA tested and proven to be human?

You are right to certain extent. It’s not black and white. Children need to obey their parents until they are an adult. But really personal issues like this where we don’t have proof are not meant to be determined by a law. Sorry, but freedom of choice is the best option we have. I’m sure we all dislike Fred Phelps and his Baptist church, but part of our freedom is allowing them to protest.
Choice for what?

The Republicans did NOTHING to win this election. They are always the party of “nice”. A tad behind the Democrats who ran the most negative and CRUDE campaign I have ever witnessed. Guess that’s what the majority relates to. What, Americans now feel “at home” with campaign ads that seniors are spewing profanities at Romney? Telling women to vote with their “Lady Parts”, and having some college girl talk about who she wants the “first time” to be with? I guess if this is what Republicans and Conservatives have to stoop to to win an election, I want NO PART OF IT.
Not all women voted in this manner. perhaps the women St Paul had in mind as he wrote 2nd Timothy, Chapter 3, verse 6, voted that way and sadly, many such are Catholic. Also, as many voted with their “Lady Parts”, many more failed to vote with their “Heads”. Obama’s reelection will likely result in a domestic and foreign policy disaster. As for the Republicans, becoming mere RINOs is not an option. They need to be more aggressive and, within the bounds of moral decency, fight fire with fire. Faint heart never won fair lady - or an election.

The problem as a woman who drank the pro choice Kool Aid for more years than I care to admit before God opened my eyes to how being personally prolife but politically pro choice was not an intellectually honest or courageous position the problem is education. As a woman raised on feminism in the 70’s it is just a matter of course that of course we need to be pro choice and this is what women’s rights means. As I have grown closer to God and finally to His Church I now know that we have been sold a bill of goods that has caused great harm to our daughters. I have seen the wreckage with my own eyes- young women are becoming increasingly pro life and with good reason. Because what seemed to make sense to me as a young woman in the 70’s has led all kinds of problems such as the hook up culture that college women now face and the general cheapening of human life. I believe we baby boomer women who have bought the lies hook line helped keep President Obama in- I see it with my friends who now look at me when I care to discuss my about face on these issues as if I have grown three heads. I am sure Republicans could be more inclusive on many things, though with today’s media I am sure no one would hear about it, but I never want to see them compromise on life because if they do there is no one left. We need a revival in faith and with it discernment about how far we have fallen as a nation from the plan of God and I hate to say it but no party out there right now is standing for that. We also need to be able to talk to one another without labels and always have an answer for the hope in us as Catholic Christians. Too many not just Catholic Christians have bought into the lies of the world.

So pretty much this means that people will either have to be more active and involved than ever before to make up for all the indifferent minded people,

or

worst case senero, we’ll have to be slayen like sheep. Inorder to invoke and make others rise to the call of duty. Forming a new institution and possibly a saint.
Only one Saint? Where sin is this abundant the next edition of Butlers is sure to have more volumes than the Britannica.

Agreed. I’m off to buy silver and ammunition.
My collective in the south is installing 8 solar panels to power the retreat and topping off the propane. I have the ammo and reloading gear. THe next few months are going to be fun. I’ve always wanted to get off the grid.

Perhaps a part of the problem talking about groups of people like they are for sale. The GOP can not “give latinos immigration”, or “let women have equal pay”… The GOP is dead in the water until they recognize that people are people and not objectives. When Gov. Romney spoke of “binders full of women” I saw my wifes reaction. She was livid…

Some posts in this thread are perfect examples of not looking at voters as people… This is what would need to change.

I’m a white middle-aged guy. Prime Republican hunting ground. But I felt completely excluded and alienated by the GOP this year. I don’t agree with the Democrats but at least they didn’t treat me like an asset to be aquired.

God bless

Jesus Christ is still on the throne and He is with us- as Blessed John Paul II said Be Not Afraid- the Church is still the Church and even though I worked eight hours in the cold at the polls just to lose I know I was standing for life and I will continue to stand for life. This may be a test or chatisement or whatever or maybe it is an opportunity for the people of God to really shine because we all need each other with what is ahead.

Blessings,

Val
Clearly, the salt of the church (as a Body) has lost its saltiness. We sin and vote just like the general population, and that is both sad and alarming. It’s as if going to church is simply hedging one’s bets, for some people. We have become virtually worthless as a moral anchor, and I can’t fathom why. Lots of reasons, I suppose, but I would leave any church body that soft-pedals Truth. 🤷

When it comes to future political involvement, I’m simply going to sleep. 🙂
Voting is pointless.

America may be able to overcome its politicians, but not its uneducated electorate.

We are doomed.

Well, you all are doomed. I am putting into effect the plan I put together 4 years ago.

…I am not optimistic about the likeliyhood of that happening.

Peace

Tim
I agree and I am in mourning. I think it is now too late for this once great country. We are a nation lost. The America I knew is dead and gone. May she rest in peace.

This hits the nail on the head. Get the extremists out of the GOP and start reaching out to the minorities and women.
It depends on how the problem is defined. Is it party positions or is it the voters? It is not just one sided. Is the goal to win regardless of holding the correct position? Perhaps the issue is much deeper as in perhaps too many voters hold wrong positions that ought not be catered to. Offering what ought not be offered may win elections but in the end we all will be in worse shape.

You felt included by a party that fully endorses planned parenthood of “gay” marriage?

:grouphug:

I hope you aren’t serious. It’s ok to be disappointed. This is nothing compared to what previous generations have gone through though.
I agree… If one is going to pray for death they should at least be praying for martyrdom. 😉 Seriously though, we here in the US are very fortunate compared to Catholics in most countries. This may be bad but it definitely could be worse. Be grateful.

If that means abounding **our core beliefs on Abortion and racial preferences **no thanks. The republicans picked up sets in the house, in the state legislatures, in the governorships and lost the popular vote by a small percentage. There is no need to panic.
I’m not sure what you mean by “racial preferences”. Could you explain please? I’m fairly certain I’m misunderstanding… At least i hope I am.

Thanks and God bless

How do you articulate conservative values to women and minorities then?
A great start would be: respecting people, be they misguided or not, as intelligent beings with God-given free will. The talking-down and the urge to cram things down people’s throats need to stop - particularly the urge to use religion as the tool to do it.

Because you aren’t. Women and minorities are the ones that Dems treated like an asset to acquire, with their war on women campaign and playing the race card.

I really don’t know. I cannot understand how ANYONE could vote for him. It’s really unbelievable to me.

.
I’ll tell you exactly why I voted for Obama, and I suspect a lot of Catholics felt similarly. Romney/Ryan represented a thoroughly unChristian and harmful economic philosophy that would further decimate the middle class and take us futher down the road to a corporate plutocracy. Ryan was an admited devotee of the atheist Ayn Rand. Yes Romeny/Ryan were on the right side on paper on abortion and traditional marriage, but I and many others have learned not to trust the GOP on those issues. A GOP president never accomplishes anything for life or the traditional family, but always accomplishes their econimic objectives: witness Reagan, and Bushs I and II. Romney in particular has made two 180 degree turns on the abortion issue in his career. He could not be trusted on any issue, including abortion. The GOP establishment is about one thing and one thing only: MONEY.

I did not join their party… i am an Independent. I voted for their Social Justice issues as well as their economic and forgien policy views.

God bless
