Most private citizens don’t have the bully pulpit of the media at their disposal

I don’t think the President can ignore what any major network is saying about them. Whether insightful or not, the topic is likely to resurface in press questions and other stories that they will need to respond to.

Trump just handles it very differently, using twitter instead of his Press Secretary.

I still don’t see the issue. He’s a former President, so why shouldn’t he still be able to say his piece? And why shouldn’t the media report it. First Amendment and all…

You said he was a private citizen now. Most citizens don’t have access to the media

I’m still not getting your objection. He’s not doing anything wrong, so if you don’t like what he has to say, don’t listen.

Merely making the distinction between Obama the private citizen and the rest of us private citizens.

Donald did when he was a private citizen. Do you have a problem with private citizens having access to the media, or is it just democrat private citizens with access to the media that you have an issue with?

I think ex-Presidents have a responsibility to play a statesman role, but they should stay out of the fray on most details. Plenty of Senators and Congressmen/women who can get in the detail of individual issues.

With the OP, I think Fox turned a valid observation into fake news, or a click bait headline. Maybe Obama should utilize Fox as well as his usual channels

Bill O’Reilly disproved the birther conspiracy in a segment less than 5 minutes by showing Hawaiin newspapers that showed Barack Obama was born there.

And didn’t Clinton campaigners start the birther nonsense?

It doesn’t seem like he is particularly getting into the fray.

I bet Obama doesn’t get much of his news from any channel.

Stop trying to make this a big issue. I am making the distinction between Obama as a private citizen and the rest of us.Why so cranky?Geez!

Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!.Not even close I dare say!I am much better looking!

I don’t think I am cranky. Donald was a private citizen and he got plenty of media attention. Probably more than Obama. Like I said this forum is the only place where I saw Obama quoted, so perhaps he is not in the media that much.
