We had gone to Baja California to see a solar eclipse. We live in Knoxville, so we flew to San Diego, rented a car and drove down the coast. Incredible sights! We pulled off the road, went inbetween the sand dunes and the ocean and set up camp.
The next day during the eclipse, we were lying on the sand dune. As the sun is slowing being covered by the earthâs shadow, he starts talking about this is truly a gift from God. Then he turns to me as says, âYou are my gift from God. Will you marry me?â
Now, I had been married before and it was a horrible, violent marriage. My former husband had been addicted to cocaine and when he was on a high, he was extremely violent. I had never truly regained trust in another human being. So that day, I said no, that I wanted to keep our relationship the way it was.
3 years later we were married. The most romantic thing I found about my husband is that he stood by me those three years until I was ready to marry him. He was so funny, in that he would check every few months about getting married. He would say, something like - "Well do you think you are ready?â If I answered no, he would give me a kiss and say, âJust let me know, but I will keep checking alsoâ
We now have two beautiful children, a daughter, 7 and a son, 4.
