The thing that gets me is that so far the prosecution keeps putting on witnesses that end up supporting the defense, either directly or indirectly. I don’t see how they can get a conviction if they keep this up.
If not for the intense political pressure this case would never have went to trial.

Since Obama immediately took sides before knowing any of the facts (as he also did when he took the side of his friend and called the police department racist and was proven wrong) this should have never gone to trial in the first place since if Zimmerman is declared guilty it can be argued that Obama’s public statement against Zimmerman had an unfair influence in the decision. Someone needs to tell Obama that it’s not the place of the president to declare people guilty or innocent before they’ve had their day in court. Obama routinely acts as if he is above the law, a true mark of a dictator. How can it be considered a fair trial when the President of the United States declares you guilty before the trial begins? I don’t think any other President of the United States before Obama ever acted in such a way. Obama is an absolute disgrace to the office he holds.

I don’t believe he will ever be safe in this country if he’s acquitted.
I agree. His life will never be the same as it was before 2-26-12. At the very least, Zimmerman will have to change his identity.

I’m jumping in rather late on this thread:

My hunch is that Zimmerman is innocent. The only evidence that matters to me is the proximity of the gunshot and the direction of the entry wound. These support the self-defense theory.

The neighbor who saw Martin straddling Zimmerman and landing heavy blows confirms Z’s post-incident video with the police.

Very tragic incident. Should never have happened. Why didn’t Z wait for the police? Well, he WAS waiting for them, until he got jumped.

I don’t like what happened, but Z is innocent of 2nd degree murder.

I agree with you. Although I don’t think we can ever know 100% that Zimmerman is innocent or not BUT there is so much reasonable doubt here you could drive a truck through it. It is a very tragic situation. My guess is that both of them feared for their safety/life and both felt they were acting in self defense. I don’t think there’s a villain here. It’s just a very sad tragedy all around.

I have always felt Mr Zimmerman was not guilty of murder. What I found incredibly disgraceful were the black “leaders” who WITHOUT ANY FACTS were put on TV making absolutely unjustified claims. I still remember a representative with a horrible pink cowboy hat screaming “He hunted Trayvoaaawn down lawk a daaaaawwwwwg!” Then the editing of the tape (NBC or MSNBC) that made it sound like Zimmerman volunteered Trayvon was black when in fact it was an answer to a specific question. The prosecution placed in evidence other tapes where Zimmerman responded that the person reported was black but in every case it was in response. Further apparently the defense has other tapes stating that when the suspicious character was white or Hispanic or Asian he described them as such. Apparently there was yet another tape “editing” that served to make Zimmerman look bad as well.

The Media, at least some portions, is totally without ethics these days. They are supposed to report, not decide various cases.

As to Janteal, honestly I thought she was a terrible witness but my other thought is that here is a young woman who is totally unequipped to survive without government assistance. Can you imagine her holding a job? It was so sad because I suspect there are thousands and thousands of such young people. What on earth will become of them 😦

Why is this? What has failed here? Is it because people isolate themselves into their own little communities? What can we do to get people out of their ghettos?

I don’t know…so sad. I suspect Trayvon was much the same, a young man without a purpose in life, ill equipped to support himself with gainful employment, to be a father to his children, to be a productive member of society. Although the media often showed a picture of Trayvon as a sweet young kid, recent photos showed a very tough looking young man with a really bad attitude.

I have spent a lot of time in Florida and it’s very segregated. People grow up in areas where everyone is on government assistance, no fathers in the home, few have jobs, high drop out rates, high rates of teen pregnancy. Janteal appears not to have received a good education or much guidance in life. I suspect she’s on a fast road to nowhere. Not trying to derail the thread here, the many commentators including former prosecutors, judges and law enforcement have all responded to questions regarding her credibility with “This IS what we deal with in these kind of cases…” She is not an outlier in the community of the ethnic ghettoes. However apparently the jury does not include any black women and the thought is that the jury might find her so bizarre that her testimony will be discounted substantially.

Your are spot on. I can’t think of anything to add.

So the police that first arrived at the scene testified that the back of Zimmermans jacket and pants were wet with grass on them as if he had been laying in grass and Martins body was face down when they arrived. They also testified that Zimmerman was completely cooperative, never asked for a lawyer and that he volunteered that he had shot Martin, that he still had his gun on his person and that Zimmerman repeatedly said he yelled for help and that he looked confused.

And a neighbor testifies at how the fight was at the edge of the grass and sidewalk and took place on both surfaces with Martin on top the whole time.

Do these prosecutors actually think these witnesses they keep calling are helping their case? I don’t get it.

I don’t believe Zimmerman. He’s changed his story too many times, the injuries don’t match his story, it doesn’t make sense, and he has a history of being short-tempered, confrontational, and violent.

In what ways has Zimmerman changed his story?

Are you watching the testimony? He had a lot of bumps, bruises, scrapes and swelling all over his head in addition to the two bloody lacerations on the back of his head, as well as his swollen, bloody and likely broken nose.

With that being said, I don’t know how many blows on concrete a skull could withstand before serious injury would be sustained or loss of consciousness would result.

At the risk of wondering why no one else has brought up your claims, I decided to do a search about George Zimmerman’s violence. He was charged in 2005 with resisting arrest and was shown in a mugshot “scowling.” The charges were DROPPED. He was also reported to have engaged in domestic violence with a former fiance whose Chihuahua bit him in the face…finally a bunch of unnamed sources said that when he was a bouncer for some kind of party situation, he was “too aggressive.” I dunno, compared to angelic Trayvon with his multiple expulsions from school, drug charges, gang banger activity and shiftless life, George sounds rather angelic 🤷

I’m of the belief at this point that anyone who doesn’t see reasonable doubt must have an agenda. The prosecutors seem to be as unethical in bringing this case to trial as Mike Nifong. Rob

Don’t forget Martins street fighting.

I’m sure his calling Zimmerman a cracker and the N word are also indicative of his angelic nature.

I’m concerned about what may happen if Zimmerman is acquitted. At this point, it doesn’t look like the prosecution has a case that can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

Well the New Black Panthers already had a bounty on his head, so yeah. Just a bunch of love and peace proponents supporting the prosecution.

I don’t think Zimmerman will be safe either way it goes. He is in a terrible situation.
