Why are so many people “second guessing” the jury on this case?

The jury was fairly chosen by prosecution and defense, and was made up of TWELVE (12) UNBIASED people.

THEY…not everyone with an opinion, or everyone in the street mob heard the facts of the case argued. THEY rendered a verdict.

Why do Americans exhibit so little faith in the jury system? It is far less corruptible than the Triumvirate of Roman Law, for example.

Our President, and our Attorney General (BOTH OF WHOM ARE LAWYERS) should promote respect for our system of justice…not pander to mob emotion.
I think it’s just a matter of sharing opinions on the verdict since this is an open thread on this topic.

I don’t see why Zimmerman needed to kill him. …
Zimmerman didn’t know that he would kill Martin when he drew his weapon and fired in self-defense, but he was afraid that he himself was being killed by having his head hit on the concrete. Zimmerman felt that he had run out of time and that he had no choice but to act to defend his own life.
…He could have used non-lethal force or called for assistance.
He made a split-second decision and only found out later that his actions were lethal. As far as calling for assistance, he did call. He also lay on the ground screaming for help over and over again while Martin pummeled him.

I am extremely disappointed by this verdict. One of the things that bothers me the most about this case is that people seem to forget or to conveniently overlook that GZ was explicitly told by the real police that he was not to leave his vehicle. He stalked Trayvon from the comfort of his SUV and with the protection of his gun. Trayvon was defending himself from what he perceived to be a threat–most likely the threat of robbery. Zimmerman started the trouble and it ended with the killing of an innocent, unarmed person. And now the message has been sent that you can kill someone with impunity based on your false assumptions about their character.

I’m not at all surprised by the polls on this forum, sadly. The Catholic priest of my parents’ church said that he was appalled by this verdict. He was fighting against people who were praising the verdict.

Sigh. Again?

Read the thread. Read transcripts from the trial. Consider the evidence. It has been repeated and repeated and repeated and still some people still do not consider any of that and repeat inaccurate things.

no,he wasn’t

You can’t be pro-life only as far as getting people out of the womb alive. A person who was literally doing nothing wrong was shot and killed. He was doing nothing wrong and now he’s dead! Where is the compassion that everyone has for the unborn in the case of this innocent person? At some point, you have to pick between politics and being a Christian. The GOP and Fox News do not represent the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Does it not matter to you that GZ initiated everything? That someone who was doing nothing wrong is dead as a result of this other person’s actions?

Please base your reasons off of the actual facts of the case. If you read the 911 transcript, you will see what you just implied did not actually happen.

Just about all of that has been stated previously in this thread.

He was pounding another man’s head into the pavement, how is that ‘doing nothing wrong’??

Even when I was a child I got in trouble if I hit my sister because she was bothering me.

Mom didn’t care who started it. I shouldn’t be hitting anyone.

tm was sitting on him and slamming his head nto the cement. I would’ve shot tm too. Use of deadly force was justified.

:hmmm:And many, maybe not so many reading this thread, wonder still in spite of the verdict.

The jury’s verdict was correct.

The FACTS supported Zimmerman. The EVIDENCE supported Zimmerman. The LAW supported Zimmerman.

What would support a different verdict other than emotion and feelings? The jury got it right

It is tragic that a young man died and another young man’s life has been changed forever, but it appears that some want to compound the tragedy.

Wouldn’t want to let facts get in the way

Also… I wonder why the judge didn’t allow the text msgs ?
