please donāt trash our priests.⦠Not all priests practice Catholic virtues the way they ought. If they possessed true faith, and were following the Gospels, perhaps they would not carry a gun.
Lets say a quick prayer for Mr.Corapi and leave that mess out of this.I know the black-sheep dog does!
Sounds like rash judgement. And there are MANY more priests who do not. Whatās your point relative to Catholic morals and virtues? Not all priests practice Catholic virtues the way they ought. If they possessed true faith, and were following the Gospels, perhaps they would not carry a gun.
Not the only one.I know the black-sheep dog does!
There is nothing about carrying a gun for self-defense which is incompatible with the catholic faith-And there are MANY more priests who do not. Your stand on gun control is clear although certainly not a āCatholic virtue.āAnd there are MANY more priests who do not. Whatās your point relative to Catholic morals and virtues? Lk. 6.3738, 4142
Judge not, that ye be not judged.
Mk. 4.24
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brotherās eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brotherās eye.
I think a large component of this was two very different attitudes to conflict and fighting. Fighting as sport, and fighting as combat.NAACP admits: Trayvonās past āshakyā
I found this article to give insight into the mind set of Trayvon. Fighting was common for him according to the article. Fighting was a lifestyle that unfortunatly he had not learned was not the way to go. It was, it seems, a macho kind of thing. I think he had all the confidence that he could be this ācrackerā and show him a thing or to. He didnāt try to avoid the conflict but I think he wanted it.
I know but the black-sheep dog is so great in his āno non-senseā persona! Not the only one.
not muchI know but the black-sheep dog is so great in his āno non-senseā persona!
A priest with a gun- whatās more awesome than that. . . . . . . right??
Also very sad that a member of the NAACP was chastised as being āimmatureā because he reported information (PUBLIC INFORMATION) that was total buzzkill for the theory that Martin was just an innocent teen with an ice tea who was gunned down by a deranged cop wannabeā¦their words.NAACP admits: Trayvonās past āshakyā

While he may have the sacramental character of orders, he has turned his back on his priestly ministry. It is my understanding that we arenāt to discuss him on catholic answers forum, so letās please leave Mr.Corapi out of this.I know but the black-sheep dog is so great in his āno non-senseā persona!

its entirely possible heās sincere about defense issues, and would not stop an assault on a child because of his scruples toward injuring her attacker.Your stand on gun control is clear although certainly not a āCatholic virtue.ā

= good point about the phone contact not being a 911. The real puzzle is why Trayvon did not walk/run immediatly to his house. He was only 30 second walk away. Perhaps he was scared and ran in circles to lose GZ. We will never know. You keep repeating falsehoods. It was NOT a 911, it was a non emergency line. She said that GZ didnāt need to follow Martin. I donāt believe she demanded he sit in car nor did she have any authority to do so. PLEASE LOOK AT SOME FACTS.
It is so frustrating to respond because you keep making things up

I believe that Martin was overcome by rage at the ācreepy a** crackaā following him. It may have been he thought he was being targeted as a young black man. He may have been of the mind that Zimmerman was a sexual predator. Whatever the reason, I think he was a young man high on testosterone and low on impulse control. Everything about the initial encounter, Jeantelās words and the testimony of Zimmerman while speaking to the dispatcher indicates Martin initially āgot away.ā But somehow they re-connected. It makes far more sense that Martin confronted Zimmerman than the alternative.I think a large component of this was two very different attitudes to conflict and fighting. Fighting as sport, and fighting as combat.
Fighting as sport has winners and losers, rules and limits.
Fighting as combat has survivors.
I donāt think Martin was trying to kill Zimmerman, I donāt think he conceived that someone would believe he was. I donāt think he understood someone who sees physical conflict as a last resort and therefore combat. Zimmerman could not read his mind, and having avoided confrontation could not conceive of someone who would attack him without being willing to go all out.
My sentiments exactly. But realize the Zimmerman case provides cover for failing to address REAL issues in minority communities. Feigned outrage about a non-issue masks the complete failure of our social service policies and government programs designed to help minority children out of the mire of generational poverty, lack of two parent homes, drugs, violence and crime.= good point about the phone contact not being a 911. The real puzzle is why Trayvon did not walk/run immediatly to his house. He was only 30 second walk away. Perhaps he was scared and ran in circles to lose GZ. We will never know.
There are large issues to talk about here-- such as where is the so called black leadership when out of wedlock afro-american births have reached 73%. Children having children is a recipe for disaster in any society. Teenage crime; more gangs in chicago than there are police.; crumbling inner cities where the only jobs are for drug runners; the media exploitation of the Gangsta -rap culture which violates women and refuses to adopt any of the traditional values of Western civilization, such as marriage and family.
