Okay, everybody who says we do not show proper respect for President Bush, raise your hands if you showed that same respect towards President Clinton that you show President Bush. I don’t see any hands raised.
The polarization of this country is absolutely ugly. I voted for Bush in '00 but not in '04. I am part of the radical middle in our country, also known as road kill. Although President Bush will appoint pro-life judges and has done a moderately good job of standing up to the left on certain homosexual rights issues. His decision making has been poor in most other areas. For example, I’ll list some of his not so good accomplishments.
- The Iraq war. A country that did not attack us and posed very little danger for our country now has us as an occupying force, 1800 soldiers dead and 300 Billion in Treasury spent.
They posed a very real threat to us. Don’t you remember all the other nations that were worried along with us about weapon build-up based on Hussian’s words and actions?
- Continued trade policies that have build up other countries infastructure and wealth (COMMUNIST CHINA) while destroying ours. Not to mention the impact China has on the demand side of the cost per barrel of oil.
Well, I’m not well-versed on that. I’d have to get back to you on that. I don’t believe he was destroying our infrastructure and wealth. Our economy is doing great.
3. Undercutting our middle class with tax cuts designed primarily for the extreme upper class while similtanouesly putting local cities and states in budget crisis with much reduced funds to operate them safely. (Dikes protecting New Orleans)
Nope. Nah. Aren’t you familiar with the child tax credits?? How could this possibility be associated with the extreme upper class. My husband and I have benefitted from President Bush’s tax credits and no one could confuse us with upper class (let alone extreme upper class)
It’s up to our states and local govts to get their own house in order. If they cut out the corruption and everyone learned to budget themselves better (households included), that would solve the problem. Instead, people want everything handed to them. (Don’t get me started on that one).
4. An inability to somewhat limit the costs associated to a barrel of oil through political pressure on oil producing countries. Yes, as leader of the free world, he can operate from his bully pulpit if he choses to. But evidently he doesn’t.
I disagree. He’s not King of the World and he was doing a pretty good job of keeping the price down before the hurricane. We just weren’t used to such a quick jump. If you go by real life pricing(everything in proportion to everything else), the prices were cheaper than the 1970’s.
5. The President has single handedly unified the entire world against us as a nation. Read world opinion about our country and their lack of sympathy at this extreme time of despair.(Hurricane Katrina) All the goodwill associated with 9/11 is gone and we are almost totally isolated.
Not everybody. You’ve got to look closer. I’m telling ya. Some of the more vocal nations are major problems because of other issues. Not because of our President. Their economies are sinking fast. Russia’s birthrate has dropped below what it would take to replace their aging population. I predict that France (a formerly Catholic country) will become a Muslim country. Germany has had problems with their economy as well as their youth. I believe that it has been a real struggle for them in reuniting their country. Euthanasia is making major inroads in some of these countries.
Ultimately, President Bush has done something I didn’t think was possible. He has so motivated the country that Democrats are once again a party of effective dissent. Not bad considering the Dems are so disfunctional they have a difficult time getting up each day just matching their socks and tying their shoes… And maybe, and I struggle with this with such ugly thoughts, helped elect Hillary R. Clinton.
God forbid.
YIKES!
