That said, I almost fell out of my chair watching progressive DNC media reporters referencing it.
I get the feeling that the Democrats new found love for the 10th will vanish as soon as we have a Democrat President again.

Along with the constitution generally.

But an IG is created by statute specifically not to be " his people" from a loyalty perspective.
If loyal, the IG SERVES NO PURPOSE.
That is what has been misrrpresented

Does he work at the pleasure of the chief executive? Yes. The chief executive has the legitimate power to fire him.

What IG did Obama fire and was it for disloyalty?
Obama’s move follows an investigation by IG Gerald Walpin finding misuse of federal grants by a nonprofit education group led by Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, who is an Obama supporter and former NBA basketball star.

Don’t get me wrong, Obama had the legitimate power to fire them, to fire all of those ambassadors, and others. The president has the power to put in place the people he/she wants.

Whether or not it is permitted, it is not appropriate to fire the IG who has oversight over your actions.
I’ve provided instances where the previous president did exactly the same.
The reasons for Obama’s actions have been listed several times in this thread, and those reasons were at the advice of many others, and were independently justified. Trump’s, not at all.

The statute provides a notice provision to Congress and a requirement of good grounds.
No loyalty is specifically not a good ground.
You are confusing power to fire for unqualified power to fire.

Because of an investigation of an Obama pal. Like I said, he had the power to do so.

I’m sure Schiff will investigate, if he has time around making up
Other fiction stories about Trump.

Grassley’s letter needs to be responded to. " Not a Trump guy," is beyond the fact patterns involving the two IGs with Obama. Especially when the subject investigation involved DONALD TRUMP DIRECTLY AND PERSONALLY.
It may be that there is no recourse. But at this point if it is the case, Grassley has to act

Ironically they do fiction and so did not address Trump gathering all power in 50 states on to himself

The great thing about “stories” like this is the “Trump is a dictator” crowd
Trouble is: Trump, in effect, said it. And looking the other way - don’t take him literally, has benn worn out.
