This thread is quoting a news article from the The Compass,
the Green Bay WISC Diocese newspaper.

"WASHINGTON — Father John A. Corapi was involved in “years of cohabitation” with a former prostitute, repeated abuse of alcohol and drugs and “serious violation” of his promise of poverty, according to a fact-finding team appointed by his religious order.

Father Corapi, who recently announced he would leave the priesthood because he could not get a “fair hearing” on misconduct allegations against him, has been ordered by the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity to return to live at the order’s regional headquarters in Robstown, Texas, and to dismiss a lawsuit against the woman whose accusations prompted the investigation.

The order said its three-member fact-finding team had gathered information “from Father Corapi’s emails, various witnesses and public sources” and had concluded that the priest:

• “Did have sexual relations and years of cohabitation (in California and Montana) with a woman known to him, when the relationship began, as a prostitute.”

• “Repeatedly abused alcohol and drugs.”

• “Has recently engaged in sexting activity with one or more women in Montana.”

• "Holds legal title to over $1 million in real estate, numerous luxury vehicles, motorcycles, an ATV, a boat dock and several motor boats, which is a serious violation of his promise of poverty as a perpetually professed member of this society.

I hope this is OK - I would encourage anyone who is tempted to buy The Black Sheepdog’s autobiography if and when it comes out, or buy any of his materials now, to instead make a contribution to SOLT, and fast on their behalf. I am sure that the order is in great pain right now, having to do this in front of the world, to stop Corapi from continuing to do what he is doing.

I fully support SOLT in their effort to appeal to Fr. Corapi to return to community and repent.
 
This is clearly so biased reporting…wow…looks like I’m reading something from the NYT. I refuse to even believe one way or the other yet what he’s REALLY guilty of. He hasn’t handled this well up to this point, and that’s a fact, but that means he’s been a recluse since day one in the priesthood? Really? Did we just all fall of tunip trucks? Number one, this doesn’t add up, and number two SOLT was out of line to put that press report out in the manner it was. There was no need for the sordid detail at all. Sorry…they could have made a statement that they found the allegations credible and will have to take action or whatever…it sounded like a smear campaign, plain and simple. And THIS article is clearly not fair and balanced. They are making the man look like a monster. Oh Please!!!

I guess it’s just a matter of who do you really believe and at this point I TRUST NO ONE! Not Fr. Corapi and not SOLT and certainly not some of the professional Catholic Press that are clearly out to smear him. Incredible!!!

The man formerly known as Fr. Corapi, now known as The Black Sheepdog, has been judged unfit for ministry at this time by his order, the one he swore obedience to. He was invited to return to the community, which he ignored. The things he has been accused of are very serious matters but he is not responding in a reasonable manner. He is instead, “lawyering up,” and accusing the Bishops of being biased against him. He has been very popular and his order knows that many people may be led astray. They have sufficient evidence or they never would have released this statement. I believe that SOLT wanted to let Corapi know that this “game” is over and that he must cooperate and submit to their authority. But from his video today, it is obvious that he no longer considers himself a part of the order or any longer a priest of the Church.

I’m afraid the former Fr. Corapi made the first moves here. SOLT is trying to help him, while also trying to protect the people he is leading astray.
 
My heart breaks for SOLT. They are a wonderful loving order and I stand by them. I am sorry but the fact is that there is some smoke coming from the Corapi corner and where there’s smoke there’s fire and I think something is burning.
I did stand by Mr Corapi and I have for a while. But I see so many of is followers blindly follow him like he is Elvis and forgetting the fact he is living outside of the Church.plus he is a heretic in as much as he is no longer a priest and he is preaching anyway plus he is generalising (SP?) his topics. I am sorry he reminds me of the movie Superman when he went dark and lost his powers. remember that? I see a former priest in a leather jacket and no collar no mention of Mary Jesus Christ and a haphazard mention of the Holy Catholic church. It is time that Catholics shun him and call him to task as to leaving the Holy Priesthood . I believe SOLT and they are forthcoming with their findings and I see why they did it. To alarm the faithful Catholics that he is not doing what he is supposed to do. AND SOLT!!! invited him back to the order and he told them to go you know what. My hearts breaks for that order and for all second career vocations.
What Mr Corapi did was scandalize (SP?) The Church the faithful, SOLT, The Holy priesthood, second career vocations, seminarians and most of all Jesus Christ. Why defend Corapi. It is his turn to come back home and live his vows. Till then call it as it really is. It is time to STOP worshipping this man and get real. He fell he can get back up again and beg his order to take him back and live in their residence.

Only on YouTube and on his blacksheepdog web site, that I know of. It would be disobedient for any church or church based organization to book him for talks at the present time, since he is under suspension.

He has his website he has his youtube videos and that is preaching Oh of course still SELLING his media.Of course he is also going to SELL his autobiography don’t forget that. .

His DVD’s he made before this were solid Church teaching and I would not consider an autobiography preaching.
 
Initially I was somewhat irritated at Fr. Corapi when the truth came out. But after watching Fr. Corapi’s latest video I feel very sad for him. It’s more obvious than ever that priests need our prayers and we need to learn forgiveness in the church. We all sin exceedingly and none are deserved of God’s forgiveness.

If the church were for only the saints it wouldn’t exist.

Good,because only God knows what has happened and not happened and instead of a sinister video others saw, I saw a man that was sad and rejected and did not feel a part of what he loved, guilt or innocence aside. If he was falsely accuse I can not imagine what he is feeling and if guilty as charged, the burden he carries is worse than one can ever imagine. I have love ones who are addicts, the devil torments them when they clean up, users they have not seen in years will show up. Imagine being a priest with a gift for preaching and speaking the truth to people…yet giving them hope that they or their family members still have hope…Do you not think the devil would tempt him in every way possible?

that is a wonderful idea to make a contribution to SOLT.
i pray that fr. corapi will rethink matter and accept the order to return to the community.
he is in God’s hands.

No, he is in a sort of transition, this is the first video he has released since his suspension. He talks about “moving on,” and broadening his topics, which he really has no choice about, since he cannot continue talking as a priest. I am so sad about this, anti-Catholics will find out about this and come to his aid, support him and play to his ego…he will move farther and farther away from his vows and the Holy Mother Church. I do not know what he believes he will do from here on out. His audience is going to shrink, not grow, and he should have realized that, but I believe his ego got the best of him and he believed that people were coming to see him preach, not to hear the Word of God spoken through him.

Personally, I see him as being used by people who know his vulnerabilities, I think the addict in him may have surfaced and he could not face it at the time, but now he’s on a fast-moving train and feels he can’t get off of it. So all that is left is to “move on,” away from his vows, away from his order, and away from the Truth. It is a portrait of someone who is being run by Satan, IMO. He is obviously NOT happy, and it’s not all outwardly directed although that is the most visible part of the whole circus. I am NOT saying he is the victim he is portraying himself to be, but if you can stomach it, watch the video on YouTube, the last 6 seconds will tell you everything about his true emotions, it is like a person who is being blackmailed and has to say a script, and then he shows his sadness and defeat at the very end.

He does not look well at all, regardless of the dyed beard and waxed head. May the Holy Spirit find him today and bring him back to his senses and to the cross of Jesus Christ.
 
The entire mess of things are sad. I don’t know who to believe in this anymore. I have not been following except a friend wanted updates. Whatever the Church decides then that is what I’ll be okay with. I am suspending judgment and instead praying for all involved.

Truly a sad situation.
