My bad. I couldn’t see past the comparison of Orthodoxy to the roll of dice. I’m done.
What that meant was that similar approaches can result into two different outcomes. It was the answer to your question why is outcome in Protestantism different than in Orthodoxy.

In cases like this, the Father’s Church trumps the Mother’s Church. Fortunately in this case with Orthodox and Catholic it’s two sides of the same coin. Yes we are in schism with one another, but both Churches are Christ’s One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church as both Churches lead souls to Heaven and have all seven valid Sacraments, a valid priesthood, etc. This would be a bigger deal if it was a Catholic/Protestant, Catholic/Muslim, etc marriage (where one party is not part of a sacramental church).

The Latin canon law (CIC) states that the obligation for Sunday and holy days is met only in a Catholic sui iuris church.

Can. 1248 §1. A person who assists at a Mass celebrated anywhere in a Catholic rite either on the feast day itself or in the evening of the preceding day satisfies the obligation of participating in the Mass.
