What I want to know is, when does Obama return his Nobel peace prize?

He has continued or expanded all of the un-popular (in world opinion, at least) Bush foreign policies:
  • Guantanamo bay prison - still open
  • Trials for detainees - not happening, back to military tribunals
  • Rendition - still going on
  • Drone attacks on individuals or small targets - expanded, more now than before
  • Willingness to assert military force unilaterally - just did so with Osama
  • Willingness to launch new wars - Libya
I can only count waterboarding as something he says he stopped. His foreign policy is a continuation of Bush, just less coherent, and less articulated (they are having trouble explaining exactly what happened with Osama, for example). His domestic policy is also more Bush (“stimulus” and more “stimulus”), by the way.

What this tells me is that he operates on expedience only. Coupled with a fawning press corps, inclined to brush off all criticism, there is no telling what he might or might not do. Rowan Williams should be concerned.

Returning to the Nobel prizes, in my view, it is the recipients who make the prize. The physics prize is prestigious, not for its own sake, but because guys like Niels Bohr or Einstein got the prize. The excellence is in the recipients and it translates to the prize.

Extending that thought to Obama, what is the Peace prize worth?

The Nobel Prize amount for 2010 is set at Swedish kronor (SEK) 10 million per full Nobel Prize.
From the Nobel Prize web page.

I submit the cash award is the value with the honor and dignity stripped away.

Everything ones needs to know about how meaningless the Peace Prize is the fact that Arafat got one and Reagan did not

Julian Assange is nominated for 2011 Peace Prize. How dumb can it get?

We are talking about a bunch of self-aggrandizing, over-educated, One World Government progressive Europeon socialist hacks, remember.

I bet $1,000 that a politician somewhere involved in this whole affair is lying.
That’s like saying the sun rises in the east. The sky is blue. The grass is green. God is good. It’s one of those things that goes without saying.

I say the press should follow Joe Biden around and keep asking him. He will eventually tell you everything you want to know whether he’s supposed to or not.

Heck if I was a spy, I’d get as close to Biden as possible.

JHarek, reports I heard today said 5 total were killed. UBL, his son, the courier, a woman who if I’m not mistaken they said was the courier’s wife, and another man whose identity escapes me at the moment.

Only one was armed. Either the courier or the other man whose identity escapes me. One of the unarmed men had his hands behind his back and they were thus uncertain if he had a weapon, though it turned out he did not.

But it was suggested by a reporter that we must remember for all we know, UBL could have had a button to press which would have simply blown the whole place to shreds in an instant. Or could have reached for a weapon. And we are told in the fog of such an event, decisions are made in a split second.

That said, killing unarmed men and women makes part of me a bit uncomfortable as well. I wonder how it could not when I read in Exodus 20:13 (Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition) “Thou shalt not kill”, along with the words spoken by Christ in Matt 5 beginning at vs 38.

But I don’t have all the answers. What I pray for may not come till He comes again. But all I can seem to do is to pray the world someday realizes His words found in Matt 5:9, Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.

Peace.

It’s the perfect time to get out of Afghanistan and Iraq.
Darn right. Declare victory, pull out, and on the way out, take out Pakistani nuclear sites with some surgical air strikes. When the last American’s out, give India the green light to invade and re-annex Pakistan. Those people are not trustworthy as allies, and they showed it in spades this time. ISI and Saudi Arabian money (both “government money” and “private money”) have done more to fuel terrorism in the Islamic world than anything else.

ISI gets to deliver an “October Surprise” with nukes, which they have plenty of, in 2012.
I seriously doubt they’d dare. If the US didn’t turn their country into a glassy-looking parking lot, India and China would—remember, they’re just minutes away (as-the-missile-flies), and they wouldn’t have much time to give educated guesswork about where Pakistani missiles were headed. They’d probably assume the worst and go to knee-jerk mode.

There is plenty of time to construct a lead-lined room somewhere in Manhattan … and then smuggle in bits and pieces and reassemble the “device” in the lead lined room.

No missiles. Nothing traceable. Nothing detectable.

October Surprise.

[of course, if we expect it … then we can take some anticipatory actions, if you know what I mean.]

Alternatively, Iran uses a tubby ship to carry a few Scud missiles (or super Scud’s) to a location a hundred miles off the coast of the USA. The missiles are launched straight up and 100 miles up, the nukes (courtesy of Pakistan) are detonated creating an ElectroMagnetic Pulse, frying all electronics out to the visual horizon. Plunging the United States back to the 1870’s.

Do that off the East, West and Gulf coasts …

The Iranians have already practiced making those launches.

All they need are a few warheads.

North Korea? [rumored to be working on an EMP warhead] Pakistan? [They do chit chat, don’t they]

EMP is the biggest fear of the folks in the know.

Congress even has a committee on the subject.

Look it up.

Or … consult an expert … ask Vince Flynn.

Hey, you know that photo of O, and his staff, and HRC sitting, entranced, watching the action on the monitor? Fake. They were there, but the monitor was blank.

Posed.

Without a gun in hand OBL killed 3000.
He is responsible for FAR more dead than 3,000. The war in Afganistan and all of its dead on both sides can be laid as his feet. The dead from the USS Cole can be laid at his feet, and those are just for beginners. ObL had been at this game for a very long time.

Only God’s inifinite patience and mercy would allow him so long to repent before calling him to account for a life so filled with evil acts.

Obama’s stories change by the hour. This Bin Laden fiasco story makes me think Obama’s teleprompter has taken over the Waffle House.
