I don’t know if it was someone who shot officers because of the misplaced anger towards cops or someone trying to frame BLM activists as racists but fighting violence with violence is never the answer 😦

There’s a video of him doing nothing while the shooting was going on, that’s why a lot of people are skeptical. If he is guilty though I do hope he gets caught soon (he’s a suspect as of now)

I’m kind of worried other black men will be targeted by others because “they all look the same”. There is a lot of angry people right now who prey on this instability. Hope they resolve this ASAP

Weird thing is, I saw that dude in one of the other videos (he was just in the crowd). And he’s turned himself in.
 
Update. Police said that they THINK he is the suspect and eyewitnesses are saying he turned in the gun. He’s most likely innocent. Police are just as clueless as us right now.
 
The guy who Dallas pd believed was the shooter was cleared 3 hours later.
There’s even video of him giving his gun to a cop while the shootings was going on.

He did. And for the record, he was very balanced in his response to the the two shootings this week. President Obama took the role of justice, but with peace and a cool head, as oppose to the rush of judgment seen elsewhere.

Not to mention, shooting upward at an unknown sniper is not exactly your run of the mill “bad guy has a gun” incident. To even mention that as some sort of refutation is silly.

Unfortunately, I only caught a snippet of his address…audio only. In the clip I heard, he encouraged sorrow for the victims and their families, but did not outright condemn the act. To me, he sounded like a kid who was forced to apologize to someone, but really didn’t want to. I could be wrong, of course…it’s just the way I heard his tone of voice.

The police were watching a protest. They were sitting ducks. The bad guys could have used Molotov cocktails or poison dart blowguns and they still would have been able to kill police. I guarantee you if the good guys did not have guns, more police would have died. This proves the theory, it does not subvert it.
 
Two police shootings that appear to be very different.

Baton Rouge shooting: Police respond to report of man “pulling a gun” on a bystander. Arrive to find man fitting description of suspect. Altercation ensues. The video shows two PD trying to gain control of suspect on ground, but suspects right shoulder is under car bumper and PD is unable to get control of his right arm. They identify gun in his right pocket, and they don’t have control of his right arm, and he is still struggling against them. This is a deadly force situation. If I’m that officer and this suspect reaches into his pocket I’m pulling my trigger.

I have a huge problem with his this altercation started. The police officers should have approached Mr. Sterling with caution and started with respectful verbal commands to stop and put his hands up. Police owe it to everyone, even those who like Mr. Sterling have long criminal records, to give us a chance to comply peacefully.

If I am right about the lack of PD control of his right arm and his reaching towards/into his right pocket, then I don’t have a problem with the officers using deadly force.

The Minneapolis shooting of Philandro Castile appears to be a much different scenario. The only information I can find so far is that PD pulled them over for tail-light. He was instructed to get his license and registration, he told the officers that he had a licensed CCW, and he wound up dead. There is no indication that Mr. Castile was involved in any illegal activity, and no indication that he posed any threat to the police.

Unless more information comes out in this case this appears to be a case of police murder.
 
Well, since sending over 2000 classified emails, including more than 100 TS/SCI emails, through an unsecured server apparently isn’t a violation of 18USC793 (if you’re a Clinton), then maybe shooting a peaceful black CCW holder is jaywalking (if you’re a police officer).

Our justice system is broken, and our nation is coming apart because of it.

He had no reason to condemn without evidence. He is the president. He is not omniscient. There will be time for justice, but remember justice may be exoneration of the innocent, or punishment of the guilty.

Wrong thread. Not everything in the world is about Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump. There are plenty of political threads where mud is welcome to be slung.

From watching his video, not only did he turn his AR over to the police just as shooting started, he told them they were free to use it if needed.

The officer who received it from him gave him his card and told him to contact him to reclaim it.

Later, when he found out that his pic was going viral on the internet, he flagged down the first police officer he could find so he could clear his name.
 
In regards to the original topic, it appears likely the Baton Rouge shooting will be ruled justified. The suspect was a violent sex offender with multiple aggravated felonies on his record. He was illegally carrying a gun and violently resisting arrest. The officers tried to restrain him but we’re unable to fully do so. The new video that shows the other angle is crucial in showing all if this. It appears the officers acted appropriately.

Of course as always, all judgment calls should be ultimately withheld until the investigation and court hearings if applicable are completed.
