West bank and Gaza, for example, were always predominantly Arab. Galilee was as well before 1948, and contrary to the immigration theory proposed by her, in fact the immigrants were largely expelled by force or moved under duress. Palestine existed as a nation under a British mandate. It existed just as much as Canada or India existed prior to full independence.

I am a Catholic, and I’m not saying that we must expect an exact political line from the Church, nor follow it to the letter if it did exist. I do however believe that as a matter of respect, we should consider the opinions of our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land, and those appointed by Rome to care for our Holy Places.
