I don’t relate to Obama at all. I didn’t associate with card-carrying Communists like Frank Marshall Davis, or terrorists like Bernadine Dhorne and Bill Ayers, or black liberation preachers like Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Yes, I guess my upbringing was too much red, white and blue, baseball, and apple pie.

My dad was a small business man. He built his business from nothing and was able to provide well for his family. Of course, O’bama thinks he “didn’t build that.” I can’t relate to that.
He used his business to help people, like people who had no money and had to go to the old country for their parents’ funerals. They always paid him back. Some still come up to me today to reminisce about his generosity.
I had a lot of blue collar friends in high school. Cement layers, etc. Somehow we got along.

Yet another straw man? I never said “‘Rightists’ dont think about money.” I just observes that the Left tends to revile those who have it (except their celebrities and rich, of course). If you see my focus on money, feel free to point it out. However, the Left excels at class warfare, and your posts illustrate it perfectly.And Rightists don’t think about money ever? Sure, go on believing that.
Let me give you a little advice. Keep in mind “people who live in glass houses ought not throw stones.” Not you personally. I have no idea if you are a prince or pauper, but it’s risible to accuse only the Left of being interested in money.

No. He’s not pro-choice. He’s pro-abortion and that’s a huge divide. Just another reason of the many why I can not vote for him.

Hardly. When asked during a television interview who his favorite players on the White Sox (his “favorite” team) were, he was unable to name them, as I recall. He likes basketball, but I don’t. I guess we have nothing in common.

Yes they have more money. And your point would be? Apparently you believe that one must actually experience something to relate. That would be rather hard considering we all don’t have the same lives. So I take it you don’t think a man can relate to a woman? You must have an interesting marriage! You don’t think blacks can relate to whites?
I agree that one must walk in another’s shoes to truly understand the situation. I never went to war and although I had a lot of personal contact with troops I can’t claim the same experience. OTOH I can certainly RELATE to those who fought for our country.
You just seem to conflate two completely different subjects. Oh and the quote we all claim was Fitzgerald’s was apparently between Hemmingway and Mary Colum:

Plus she voted lockstep with Obama and was an advocate of Obamacare. Until the Akin blowup she was considered unlikely to win. I suspect Akin WILL win despite his strange comment. Ironically there is some truth to his remark with respect to the incidence of pregnancy following a rape but of course it was so outrageous that is all we hear now.

Oh, I relate very well to women, finding them more interesting and usually more brainy than men, including often me. (The women I know, that is.)

No the point was the source of the quote was Hemingway. F. Scott just lifted it. It’s Gatsby btw. Further did you get the point? The rich are different–they have more money. IOW that is the one difference that is obvious. But the rich are neither saints or sinners simply because of their money. You seem to conclude that unless our lives are the same, we can’t possibly relate to each other. Rather an odd idea, particularly from the side of diversity as a minor god.

Yes really. No it’s not irrelevant since you seem to believe one cannot relate to those not like themselves. Sorry about your wife. You had referred to her on another thread (the broodmare comment) so I assumed she was still part of your life. OK you are contradicting yourself by saying those with different experiences can’t relate but you relate to women. Really and how could that be?
