I just found out about his choice and now I’m trying to do a little pre-election research.
Me too. I haven’t been keeping up with the election campaign as I don’t like the choices since they both want to continue bombing the Middle East. In order to choose I will have to put international concerns, human rights, etc… aside and consider their domestic policies, etc…

I’m reading up on Ryan. I did not even know he existed until yesterday. 🙂

10 Reasons Paul Ryan Should Be Mitt Romney’s VP Pick

How does he propose to reform medicare and how will this affect the rights of the elderly?

Why do you think that? The ones who will be given a choice about Medicare will be your generation. Everything stays the same for me.
Because the Democrat party has successfully painted his budget as “PAUL RYAN WANTS OLD PEOPLE TO DIE”!!!

Romney just handed Obama the senior vote on a silver platter.

What a moronic selection.
Considering seniors are seeing their healthcare options dwindle as a result of Obamacare, seeing their social security checks being raided to pay student loans…as a result of Obamacare…I don’t think so.

Because he does! I’m 70 and dread what Ryan wants to do to us seniors. Romney could have done better. 😦

Paul Ryan is:
  1. Catholic.
  2. Strongly pro-life.
  3. Strongly supports traditional marriage.
  4. Is a strong fiscal concervative.

My kids already have a $150,000 tax debt each because of irresponsible Republicans AND Democrats. At least Ryan is trying to act in a fiscally responsible manner. Obama called Bush “unpatriotic” for increasing the deficit $4 trillion in 8 years…and Obama increased it $5T in 3.5 years. So, by his own standard, Obama is unpatriotic.

And I don’t want to hear the tired old “He inherited a mess”. He begged for it. He spent half a billion dollars so he could call it his. He got it and he made it worse, for everybody, the poor in particular.

Now, there are some things that are beyond his control, like namely the Baby Boomer Bubble. That bolus of population is going to behead the American economy, because we don’t have any politicians with the stones to do what it will take to fix it.

Voted for NDAA… Voted for Tarp, and auto bailouts. Supports the Patriot Act an continued overseas wars.
Oh yeah, color me excited.

Oh, he’s the one. I have heard of him after all. Well, does his plan facilitate shortening the life of the elderly or is that another plan I heard about?

I have to read up on this. Is this true that the money will be diverted to Wall Street investors? That does not sound very secure.
Now Ryan and his compatriots want to mess with that success story. They want to begin the privatization of Social Security by turning over part of the funds that America’s working people pay into the program to Wall Street investors — yes, the same investors who have such a great track record, like blowing up the economy and requiring federal bailouts to save them.thepaulryanwatch.blogspot.com/2011/10/ryan-wants-to-send-seniors-back-to-poor.html

Please, he wants you dead? With all due respect, howard dean could have done better than that…

Why do you think that? The ones who will be given a choice about Medicare will be your generation. Everything stays the same for me.
Well thanks for that.

Another flaw is that Ryan is so far to the right, it will alienate undecideds and moderates. I can understand why that would appeal to you all as a conservative catholic community, but bigger picture…it will hurt.

Rubbish. It is ObamaTax will that will hurt seniors by cutting Medicare Advantage payment rates by 2017 an average of $3700 for every person. 27% below what recipients would receive with out ObamaTax. If they lose $3700 annually in Medicare from 65 years old until their death at 78 they would lose $44000 in benefits and medicare spending would increase $25 billion with ObamaTax

And Ryan can throw back what plan have you got, nothing! The lies about the Ryan plan are old, democrats have already attacked it, there is nothing new democrats can throw at the Ryan plan

No. That’s fear mongering from the left. Ryan’s budget does not change anything for current or soon-to-be seniors.

You have more to fear from Obamacare

Social Security is already broke, and it is now SS checks are being raided (up to 15%) to pay defaulted student loans… SURPRISE! So, if you secured a loan so your son or grandson could go to college and defaulted on the loan, they will tap your social security check.

The Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996 (31 U.S.C. Section 3716(c)(A)(i)) now allows federal government agencies to offset Social Security benefits to collect debts such as student loans. Formerly these benefits were totally exempt; now you’re left with a maximum exemption of $9,000 each year.

You can thank Bill Clinton for that one.

I disagree–no matter who Romney chose, there was always going to be some group that did not love the choice. In this case, Romney is showing he wants to make fiscal policy a strong element of his Presidency, and most people DO care about that!

That’s your opinion, and I, as a senior who will turn 71 in December have mine. Is it okay with you if I voice an opinion? 😦

Whoever Romney chooses is an upgrade over Uncle Joe, who often times looks like he would have trouble finding his way down a one-way street.
