There’s no such thing as too far to the right for most posters here.Another flaw is that Ryan is so far to the right, it will alienate undecideds and moderates. I can understand why that would appeal to you all as a conservative catholic community
And well worth thanking him for. You turn away from your obligations and you still expect your welfare benefits. What could be more immoral than that. You should lose all your benefits until you pay your obligations.Social Security is already broke, and it is now SS checks are being raided (up to 15%) to pay defaulted student loans… SURPRISE! So, if you secured a loan so your son or grandson could go to college and defaulted on the loan, they will tap your social security check.
The Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996 (31 U.S.C. Section 3716(c)(A)(i)) now allows federal government agencies to offset Social Security benefits to collect debts such as student loans. Formerly these benefits were totally exempt; now you’re left with a maximum exemption of $9,000 each year.
You can thank Bill Clinton for that one.
I didnt know who he was either seeing as I am a First time Presidential voter and newly registered republican.I’m reading up on Ryan. I did not even know he existed until yesterday.
10 Reasons Paul Ryan Should Be Mitt Romney’s VP Pick

LOL! Got me there. Yes, there are some 'dom" Dems in the Congress.Freudian slip or subconscious admission?
Or too left…be fair. You know as well as I do that some of the posters here would be delighted if Congress was effectively abolished, Obama given “President for Life” status, nationalized the entire economy, and banned private gun ownership. Admit it.There’s no such thing as too far to the right for most posters here.
I expect that Romney/Ryan will go for the latter. IMO.Paul Ryan’s world view brings this election front and center as to what kind of nation we are going to be going forward. One still with some empathy for the less fortunate and those in need. Or one that would be willing in such a severe way to balance the budget on the backs of the poor and the sick while continuing to benefit the rich with further tax cuts. I can only say good luck everyone.
The alternative is that we become Greece in 2-3 years under Obama, with 25%+ unemployment, faltering banks, and hyperinflation. Try caring for the poor when your national currency is meaningless and no other country on the planet will loan you money.Paul Ryan’s world view brings this election front and center as to what kind of nation we are going to be going forward. One still with some empathy for the less fortunate and those in need. Rich gets my vote for post of the day and it’s still early. There’s no such thing as too far to the right for most posters here.
Sure; there are such libs, but I’ve not seen them on the Forum. That bunch is on the outside.Or too left…be fair. You know as well as I do that some of the posters here would be delighted if Congress was effectively abolished, Obama given “President for Life” status, nationalized the entire economy, and banned private gun ownership. Most of them are Catholic in name onlyUntil recently I had no idea how many Catholics were in government.
The Vice President is Catholic, Nancy Pelosi is Catholic, a lot of the governors are Catholic, 6 of the Supreme Court Justices are Catholic.
Wow.
Medicare Advantage is a seperate enity from standard Medicare, which saving is dire, even if it will lead to higher taxation. Ryans plan to convert to a voucher program is misguided and a shameless attempt to cater to the fiscal right. Seniors deserve defined and structured benifits.Rubbish. It is ObamaTax will that will hurt seniors by cutting Medicare Advantage payment rates by 2017 an average of $3700 for every person. 27% below what recipients would receive with out ObamaTax. If they lose $3700 annually in Medicare from 65 years old until their death at 78 they would lose $44000 in benefits and medicare spending would increase $25 billion with ObamaTax
Look at the bright side, CMatt. This will probably bring the bishops and the goods sister together. Both agree that Ryan’s budget proposals would be a disaster for the poor.Paul Ryan’s world view brings this election front and center as to what kind of nation we are going to be going forward. One still with some empathy for the less fortunate and those in need. And that’s my only complaint! At 58, I’m not far from Medicare. I will “yell” it: I DON’T WANT MY HEALTH CARE CONTROLLED BY THE GOVERNMENT!! I want the CHOICE of a voucher for premiums to continue my private health care plan. After all, its MY money that I paid in since I was in my teens!! The current president said I can keep my current plan, and that’s what I want. In short, I don’t trust the government to do my health care.No. That’s fear mongering from the left. Ryan’s budget does not change anything for current or** soon-to-be seniors**.
You have more to fear from Obamacare
Yup, my thoughts exactly.Romney just handed Obama the senior vote on a silver platter.
What a moronic selection.
The best way to save medicare is to base it on the benefit principle. Those who benefit from it, seniors, should pay for it. Why should working people be forced to sacrifice for seniors who don’t work? Nobody has the right to demand that others make sacrifices for them.Medicare Advantage is a seperate enity from standard Medicare, which saving is dire, even if it will lead to higher taxation. Ryans plan to convert to a voucher program is misguided and a shameless attempt to cater to the fiscal right. Seniors deserve defined and structured benifits.
A vote for Romney or Obama is a vote for more government control, more war, and a globalist economy that's destroying our future. It's time to kick out both parties once and for all.
