A public excommunication by her Bishop would, at least, prevent her from other scandalous pronouncements and would serve notice on other apostate politicians from making heretical statements.
Not that it would have much effect. Look at HHS Secretary Sibelius. When she was Governor, her Bishop excommunicated her for her public espousal of Abortion and Contraception laws in her State. She never publicly recanted and today is shoving that very thing down the Catholic Churches throat and along with Obama is spinning it to make it look like our Bishops are against women!
I think we are overdue for Cardinal Dolan to advise all Catholics about the dangers of voting for these people who continue to violate our Constitution.
amen!👍

Doesn’t matter. It is morally a disordered state.Man and woman, marriage, procreative act, children,God’s design.Any other combination is unnatural. Try moving past the emotional part of the argument and think about it logically.I am not trying to be rude, but it does seem to be that those who endorse civil unions and a host of other social issues get caught up in the emotions and lose sight of the facts. Just because it makes one feel good about supporting this and other controversial issues,it doesn’t make it moral.
I truly have little emotion in this topic - I just don’t see it as imperative, and meaning much

It doesn’t effect me really - if gays get married or not my life will be the same… so I could care less in that sense

I don’t feel good or bad taking my stance, I don’t think it effects my morals either

I will stand with the Catholic Church, because they have lead me right so far

How is that Protestant thinking exactly?
Sorry. I answered there but in bad terms:
That is a Protestant thinking. I have got a private revelation that tells me that something that is against the Catholic Faith is wrong.
It should be:**
I have got a private revelation that tells me that something that the Catholic Faith says is wrong. I am right, the Church is wrong.**

I like what you have said here about private revelation superseding 2000 years of Church teaching. I think that we need to realize that this woman is a POLITICIAN first and a Catholic second.
A politician ( a true politician ) told me: “For power, I would sell my best friend!”. I then understood the stuff many politicians are made of.
Not the great Thomas Moore: “The king’s faithful servant but God’s First!”. Great!

That’s something I never understand about Catholics. Some as you stated say she’s not Catholic. And I’m not sure if you meant “as much as we don’t feel she shouldn’t have the right to call herself one, she is one”. Or if you meant “as much we don’t feel she should have that right, she is one”. But I don’t understand why any faithful Catholic would say she is not Catholic or should not have the right to call herself one when the Church doesn’t say that. To say she is not or shouldn’t have the right to call herself one seems to go against Church teaching. The same thing these Catholics who say these things are critical of her of doing.
It’s not up to individual Catholics to say if she’s Catholic or not. The same way that Catholics shouldn’t be looking to her as a source of what should be Catholic belief or not.

Yes, but sadly, these are the days where people look towards people like Kanye West for wisdom.

(Kanye has nothing to do with this topic, just an example of the idolatry going on these days.)

I sincerely hope that Nancy Pelosi is not using her Catholic faith for her own personal agenda and power. Same holds true for any public official who uses their faith or Jesus’ name in vain for similar purposes.

These leaders have been blessed with such a wonderful opportunity in their time on earth to influence and help so many. If their intentions are self-serving, I pray that God will protect those they come in contact with so that they may see the truth, and follow the path of our Lord Jesus Christ.

if she wasn’t beautiful
:ehh: Well, I suppose we were all made in God’s image, though some may have gone over with that image with spackle a few times.

I look more at the beauty within someone, but everytime she opens her mouth, she says something that undermines my values or those I support, so it’s hardddd. I’ll try to see her the way you do though, itullian.

I’m sure some will say I’m a mean person now. Meh.

Ohhh, okay, there is a different picture if you go to his actual profile, and I thought that’s what you were referring to… the photo of Scott himself.
The process that led me to choose the picture of me is complicated. I said, what really represents the essence of ME. In the end an actual picture of me represented me better than anything else I could come up with.

The Catholic Church teaches that sin has its communal effect. Sin affects everyone in the society directly or indirectly. Gay marriage may not directly affect you, or so you think. Actually, gay marriage affects everyone. When you live in a morally polluted environment, you are unavoidably affected. You yourself may not become gay, but this will open a door for your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, best friend’s child. If the law says gay relationship is also marriage, the little ones, before any of their moral value is formed, will be confused, and get an idea it’s OK to seek gay relationship. It will be a disaster for human kind.
Please note the “you” I used here is a general term, not particularly pointing to anyone.

So, just how many of y’all pray for her conversion?
I did this morning, after having read many of the comments on this thread. I also prayed for those who want to believe that sin is okay, and want to say that sin is okay. The Church is quite clear about the subjects of Marriage and civil unions.

I was thinking the same thing just a bit ago and was about to post it and then saw you already had.

in this instance it is right to charge her with not being catholic as she claims that HER catholic faith is in line with gay marriage. can’t have it both ways.
THE catholic faith does not allow gay relations.

Then what do you counter offer to protect their civil rights?

How shall you oppose marriage equality? And to what levels are you prepared to carry out your opposition?
Your arguments are ridiculous, as Catholics we can’t pick and choose as we like " a la carte "

We are supposed to be in communion with God and the Key-holder, if we aren’t then we aren’t
Faithful to God or the Magisterium…therefore not faithful catholics…

Equality for men to marry men :hmmm: what next ? equality for a murderer to continue murder, a child molester to molest.

We as Catholics are given the moral law and have to uphold it, if not then we can’t call ourselves faithful catholics… not a good place to be…
