Home school is easier said than done. The parent has to have broad knowledge for every subject for every grade. That’s why the social moral is important. It is just not feasible to live in an ivory tower.
You don’t have to live in an ivory tower or be knowledgable of everything to homeschool. Maybe of the other parents in our homeschooling group actually make sacrifices to guarantee the quality of their kids education and moral foundation. They don’t have cable or high speed internet. They don’t have new cars, they live in older homes. They cost share in many areas, buying in bulk and splitting it up. The men help each other out with repairs and tools. In fact, we are much closer and feel a much greater sense of community than most people.

As to the social aspect…
My kids find plenty of interaction with their friends on the soccer field, in the neighborhood, and at church.
Exactly. Mine also participated in scouting. There are plenty of opportunities for social interaction. All of them are more positive than regular school.

Can she be excommunicated, please? Please, please, pretty please?
Constitutionality and religious views do not always coincide. She is not adhering to the Catholic principles. I wonder why she considers herself Catholic. Should she not go to the Episcopal or some other Church which is more in line with her views?

Precisely.

The difference between the public school social interaction and the interaction at the soccer field, neighborhood, and in church…I am there.

I can help my kids discern who they should and should not foster friendships with.

I missed the ivory tower crack.

I’ll choose not to be insulted.
Given the demonstrated knowledge of homeschooling, it is more likely a misunderstanding then malice.

I did not mean to insult anyone. My apology if my writing was not clear. It is good to know home school is feasible for many. I agree children are much better protected in a home school environment.

My point was to emphasize the importance of the social moral value. While home schooling protects the children for the time being, they will be exposed to the pollution sooner or later. Therefore, it is not good enough to be satisfied with home school. We must care about the bigger environment. Make sure I am not saying home school people care less. I am just making my point. The point is we cannot vote for someone whose moral value is rotten. A leader’s moral value affects the society we live in.

I agree. The children will eventually be exposed to bad influences.

So it is even more imperative that I be there to help guide them.
By the time they are exposed to any such bad influence, I would hope I have taught them enough to be able to see through it and make the proper decision.

This cannot be done in a regular school environment. The parent has very little control, and is not in a position to provide guidence and support…they are not even in a position to know who and what the child is interacting with.

Which is witnessed on this thread with the pro-gay lifestyle propaganda provided to some children in the public schools.

:hmmm::hmmm:A good example of true community living, I’m sure there are happy examples of it the world over. In a diverse country of over 300 million…, not easy!

There can be no more surprises regarding
Pelosi’s “Catholic faith.” She has made that very clear.

She is what she is.

I think there could be.
But it is not likely.
It is possible she could be struck with lightining and suddenly find the Catholic faith we all know.

Of course, with a lifetime of choosing politics over faith, I suppose that would be difficult transition. Still, the human heart is a fickle thing.

I urge prayer for her.

Perhaps, we should let God deal with judging Ms. Pelosi.
She is one of many who choose an extremely hard service life… helping to govern this great country, Politics in every sense of the word can be a very tricky and dirty business. And friends I remind you none of us are perfect to everyones thinking and we are all sinners. Right?

We are all sinners but to create public scandal for the Church and use the so called “Catholic” status to run political agenda and to confuse and mislead the public who are not familiar with true Catholic teaching, is not only bad but malicious.

Correct we need not judge her. But her statements consistently misrepresent the Catholic faith. It undermines the Church to those who may not know as much about it as we do. This is where my problem is. Our duty is not to judge Ms. Pelosi, but to stand by and watch the Church be misrepresented on such a visible platform is another issue.

Our corresponding duty to her pronouncements
is to reject them, totally, as being NON-Catholic,
NON-Christian, UNfaithful - in every way.

I guess that’s why people shouldn’t feed babies formula, they are going to be eating at McDonalds soon enough.

Well I do think most religious institutions, Christian or otherwise , understand and are taught for the most part, moral principles, but I also understand the secular world have their own set of principles they believe in , right or wrong, and so the governing body of a country must do their best to address concerns and beliefs of all the people , the believers in religious principles and the unbelievers of those principles alike…
The government must some how work to compromise the concerns of all for the most good.
How? I don’t know! We pray!.

When a self claimed “Catholic” who is an important political figure publicly says things against Church’s teaching and pretends that’s from a “Catholic’s” point of view, it is evil on purpose.

This country was founded on Christian value. Although there are always many liberals, the government we elected always governs under God’s truth until the past three and half years. And it is getting worse and worse now.

This country has many faiths to coexist with. Nevertheless, these discussions of Pelosi and Biden have me wondering. Neither purports themselves to be bishops speaking for the Catholic Church. What exactly would faithful Catholics like to see them do short of practicing the faith as you espouse if they can not do so at this time in good conscience? I would think as faithful Catholics you wouldn’t want to see anyone leave completely. 🤷

What a job these politicians have, trying to work it all out in good conscience, you know we don’t sit in with them when they face their confessor, the priest in Persona Christi. How can we judge their justification? Domine Miserere Nobis and all of us.
