When you and Julie Mae go public, become political leaders in Congress, and have a private session with the Pope, you’ll make the excom list, fair enough?

Common sense should be able to tell you there is a world of difference in the effect she has on people’s lives and the effect you or I have, as non-public figures.
 
👋 That’s too bad… Charity ‘demands’ that they stop IMO. No marriage or civil unions for them.

We should ban people who have been baptized and raised Catholic from ceasing practice of the faith or converting to other faiths? After all, can they really honestly claim invincible ignorance?

What about those who have children out of wedlock? How about we deny them all financial aid or other help even if they’re starving and broke? After all aren’t we condoning their sin by allowing taxpayers to help like they would any godfearing married mothers?

I’m not advocating calling a gay relationship ‘marriage’, nor necessarily bestowing all the legal and other benefits that a heterosexual marriage has - some possibly aren’t even appropriate. But that doesn’t mean that some form of recognition isn’t called for and even overdue.

Hi LilyM.I always enjoy your posts.I don’t think I said anything about letting anyone starve or my not helping someone or not giving financial aid to an unwed mother and her children,or not giving medical treatment to someone whose condition exists because of choices they made with their lives.However it is not "charitable to say they are right in their choices or that the sin was right.The person our Lord loves,the sin greatly offends and hurts Him.

Martin Luther was Catholic “by virtue of his baptism”, as were all of his followers. Hitler was Catholic. Heck, even Judas Iscariot was Catholic.

I didn’t know there was a list. Surely, when it comes to “latae sententiae”, how could there be a list? Who knows if someone has been excommunicated “latae sententiae”?

I believe that it is against forum rules to question the professed faith of anyone. Including posters who have differing opinions or even Nancy Pelosi. It is especially uncharitable to infer that anyone should leave the Church. You are not perfect, I am not perfect, no Catholic is perfect. We all have issues.

While many of us may not agree with Pelosi or Biden, we still have the responsibility to treat everyone with charity and respect. The Church demands that of us. Lets try our best to keep these discussions on a respectful level.

Well excuse me, but it seems I’ve been ambushed on multiple forums this week. I thought that in all places, I could rest my weary soul on the Catholic forum and have a discussion without some newb calling me a Pharisee. How insulting is that? And yes, I suffer with my mental health and could do without being called the Christian equivalent of Hitler.

I guess I can only have some peaceful discourse with my priest. Gotta deal with arrogant folk like you here.

Reread Julia Mae’s post. I know you’ve read many of mine. 👍 Not that you see “Catholic” in my profile though. But just so I understand, one must go public AND be a poltical figure AND meet with the Pope?

I caught it. So being the public figure she is, why would she be given Communion if she attends Mass and indeed approaches to receive?

No priest can screen everyone for their views. I saw an article just yesterday, where someone way denied communion because they were openly gay. And so many who aren’t Catholic were mad about it. They must have made it obvious if the priest had the time to say no? Pelosi has done this on national, no, international television, which to me, means she has no shame in it at all.

I would be greatly surprised but I’d be happy to see it happen. My guess is that Obama, Biden and Pelosi will support gay marriage until the elections are over, and then get very quiet about it again, then when one of the Dems needs the gays for some sort of strategy, they’ll bring it up again. That’s how it always seems to go.

I just don’t see her as someone who respects the Church at all. We can pray that changes though.

Apparently, you aren’t familiar with the political demographics of San Francisco. Getting formally excommunicated is much easier than getting Nancy Pelosi voted out. 😛

Heh.

It’s illegal to put recyclables in your trash here (the fines are steep, too), but we have virtually no indecent exposure laws. I mean, you can literally walk through the city nude, except the parks for some odd reason. If you sit (on a bench, bus seat, etc.), you do have to bring a towel for sanitation purposes, though.
