People cutting in line

Was there an expectation set at the beginning of Mass that people are to form the line starting from the front? If not, maybe this is what should be done next time. You asked how you should deal with h people cutting in line. I’d say, you would deal with it by talking to whoever organized this Mass.

Like others have said though, going up does not guarantee that Jesus will choose to heal your mom, and not going up doesn’t stop Him from healing her. I guess that’s why I don’t understand the point of a healing Mass to begin with, but that’s a whole other question.

I will pray for your mother. It must have been a very difficult situation for both of you.

K. That’s not what happened here. Many of the people who cut were young and not sickly. They cut people in wheelchairs

I am sorry people were rude and cut the line. Perhaps you should explain to your pastor that should they ever have another healing mass, there needs to be more ushers, and they need to be trained to act as "security.

Why would you leave instead of just waiting until the end though? Is there a time limit you have for getting healed? I don’t intend this to be mean, I really am saying that if it’s worth getting, it’s worth waiting for. No healing mass I have ever been to had anyone announce “Ok, that’s all for today folks, better luck next time.”

People can be sick in ways that you do not see. My husband looks healthy as a horse, yet, his heart barely functions. It is unkind to judge others as “not sick enough” to deserve the celebrity to pray over them.

EVERY priest can offer the full, Sacramental Anointing of the Sick. Schedule that for your mom.

98 % of the people on our lines had no visible disability. Please, do not assume that only people in wheelchairs need healing. You have no idea what is wrong with people.

No one should cut
That’s true.

Unfortunately, at this point it is part of the past and can’t be changed. The question is what do you do now?

Anger won’t help anyone, especially yourself.

Perhaps a better solution would be to arrange to take your mother to be anointed for her illness. Anointing of the Sick is a beautiful sacrament and I think should be used far more often than it is. God’s healing can come through your parish priest just as surely as it can come from the visiting priest. And you won’t have to deal with the circus atmosphere of all those people pushing forward.

Well, like I said, definitely look around for a priest in your area who does it. Your pastor or church staff may also be able to connect with a priest who has a healing charism.

Yeah. It was around 8:30pm by the time the priest started the healing part and the billed time for it to end was 9:00pm.

This is what I wondered as well. You said she waited an hour. Well, why didn’t you wait 2 or 3 hours until you were finally able to meet the priest and receive his blessing?

Not saying it wasn’t disrespectful of those who cut in line, but was there a pressing reason you didn’t wait until you had a turn?

It was already 8:30pm when the priest started the healing service.

It sounds like they were unprepared for the number of people who attended, if they only allotted 30 minutes for the prayers.

I wonder how long the priest stayed. I would imagine he stayed until everyone had a turn, or at least he would have if it had been possible. Did they actually close up the church and shoo everyone out at 9:30?

I don’t know. I left. But if he actually healed everyone he probably is still there a day later lol

Some people are not as impatient as you appear to have been, like the priest, perhaps? Maybe the priest stayed very late, but there is no way you would have known that because you left. As I said earlier, there was never an announcement made that said it was ending at any healing masses I attended. And they were in NY. Lots of people.
