Perhaps my time here is over

I’d think God would be a better judge of the state of my husband’s soul than you, don’t you think?

I don’t know if he truly believed in Jesus or not. He sure seemed to, from my POV. But I have known many former Christians who have converted to Judaism (being married to a convert tends to bring you in contact with many like-minded souls).

Why did he convert? It was a very gradual thing, actually. He found that the more he studied the NT and the OT, the more contradictions he saw. He also took up the study of Hebrew (so he could read the OT in the original language; he already was well-versed in NT Greek)…he just began to see glaring contradictions and could not find any answers, even though he consulted various pastors and theologians, and prayed about it often. It was a very tortured experience for him, because he had to confront the possibility that what he’d always believed might not be true.

But my husband never rejected GOD. He rejected JESUS. Remember that to Jews, they are not one and the same.
I like getting that weak attack, saying I’m “judging”, it immediately brings up a red flag, and I can tell where the debate continues, especially with you saying there are contradictions in the bible, I think more like there are contradictions in your logic…

I hate to break the news to you, but your husband was clueless about interpreting the bible, that is the only reason he converted. This solidifies my stance upon him not actually believing in Christ in the first place, for if he did, he would have better discernment about the word. Did he at least give us Catholics a chance to help him find his way, or was his quest strictly non-denominational?

You see, my concern for him is genuine, just as it is for you, and I’m thinking, you are here because part of you wants to have fellowship with us Christians, now this is obvious, or you wouldn’t be here. Now, if you want fellowship with us, what possible motive would you have, unless in the back of your mind you are thinking, that perhaps Jesus was the messiah, that perhaps there is more to God that you don’t understand yet, and perhaps you might have been called, yet don’t want to admit it. Your husband may have also been called, but at the same time, know this, it’s written, many are called, few are chosen. The only other possible reason for you to be here would be to attempt to derrail our Christian faith, it’s either or, which one is it?

Keep this in mind, this is the harsh reality to the state of affairs in most Christian establishments. Many claim to know Christ, yet they are not being true to themselves, they are only trying to fit in, there are many churches that are closer to social clubs and are not based upon faith, but upon social status. I’ve visted many of these places, I’ve dealt with many of these individuals, they speak one thing, yet do another, and he might have simply been looking for answers from these suto churches. Believe me, I see the reality of it all in business and in life, where they claim to be all into the church, but when the chips are down, when things aren’t going their way, Christ goes out the window for them and it’s all about themselves and their selfish ways, the ways of man… I again, would not consider your husband to ever be any kind of a true believer, he may have formed the words from his lips, but they came not from his heart.

You have her and every other Jew pegged. We were blind, but now we see.

 I hope you don’t end up assuming that every Catholic is like him. :o That kind of rant certainly gives substance to some Jewish complaints against some Catholics.

It’s obvious, not all Catholics are like me, it’s unfortunate, I have the HS which drives me forward, for he is my companion, I also have a fire for the Lord which has been tried and tested, and it continues to be so. If you are to make further assumptions, then by all means do so, but you are doing so from mans perspective, not Gods…

I have to admit, I’ve had a short string of bad run ins with Catholics lately. This morning some guy on 42nd Street handed me a paper basically condeming Vatican II and called me a worthless Jew. (or just called Jews worthless in general. I didn’t catch everything he said).

I guess he is relying on the power of the HS to protect him, because you can only get away with saying stuff like that for so long in NYC.

He absolutely did NOT have the Holy Spirit within him, that is quite obvious, never pair up an individual like that with a true believer, they are absolutely not. You should have told him to read Ecclesiastes, and guess what I literally was just reading just a very short moment ago, coincedence or perhaps, something more is going on here…

Whew!!! Maybe I could coax him into getting more obnoxious so he could be banned. 😃

Naw-- just ignore them when they get like that. Leastways, that is my policy with Zerinus.

:blessyou: Remember, I’ve been called a degenerate joo, too.

This is the “real” issue; the Bible, Gods Word clearly states that Jesus is the Son of God, period.

Do you believe in Rabbinical Judaism or Biblical Judaism?

.

LOL 😉 Very good comeback.

Zerinus may call me a joo, because his “Bible” tells him so. My Bible says nothing of the sort.

I love those analogies.

I recognize that your Bible does not include the New Testament. However, your Bible contains innumerable predictions to the coming of the Messiah. On that I know we can agree.

I can only assume that those predictions and prophecies are not recognized by the Jews as pointing to Jesus Christ. Personally I find that very strange. But I accept that God works in His time, not mine.

Perhaps one day your Bible will include the New Testament.

Brian, we can’t ask the Jews to believe in Jesus against their will. Forced conversions are false and in the end don’t do much good… They received a revelation from God which a good number of them still believe. When Jesus declared that He would come on a cloud sitting at the right hand of God, this was first news to them, and it sounded like a blasphemy since to them he was a man and only a man. According to their law, anyone uttering a blasphemy in the Land of Israel had to be put to death by stoning. If Jesus wasn’t stoned, it’s because it was during Passover. Holy Thursday was the opening night of Passover… and so this is why the Jewish authorities brought Jesus before Pontius Pilatus!

Jesus fulfilled all the prophesies that could be fulfilled by text manipulation.
Perhaps one day your Bible will include the New Testament.
As likely as, one day, yours being the Qur’an.

Yeah, given that Jesus were a phoney Messiah and that he were not who he claimed to be… which is hard to prove on either side!

That is, proof in the material sense, like in the tribunals, of course!

And you don’t need to want to become a Christian to study it, either… 😉

By any chance have you read some parts of the New Testament? (For this to happen you don’t have to own one…)
I’ve read all of it. I’ve also read: the Qur’an; Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth, Her Stories and Hymns from Sumer . . . and a whole range of religious texts.

I’ve always rather liked that ‘glass darkly’ bit from Corinthians, by the way.
