Our Holy Father was right on and I’m glad that PETA could find some common ground with him. Factory farming and the intentional altering of God’s creation through the use of drugs and genetic selection are inhumane. It’s about time people start to recognize that. I truly feel that if the people on this thread that are mocking the animal welfare movement actually thought about what they are doing, looked at the pictures of what they support, they would change their minds. Check out the website www.christianveg.com to see more of the Christian perspective on vegetarianism. We need to be good stewards of the resources that God has given us; currently we are not.
I would support (as would many here) any reasonable reform to the farm system. “Unneccesary” suffering should be avoided, as the Catechism states, and Christians should favor such action.
