We are Catholic, and as such believe the parents are the primary educators of the children. Not scientists, not educators, not anyone else. You may not like what some parents teach or espouse, but that is frankly none of your concern.
One doesn’t have to be in communion with the pope to hold that view. As a teaching, I always recognized my position to be second to the parents. My plans and resources were always available to the parents for review. I always shared the state standards I was teaching to.
My students never knew my political views in any of the elections I’ve taught during, dating back to 1996. Teachers that promote their political views are committing education malpractice and should lose their credentials.

It seems that the teacher’s tweets in question were private tweets, not available to just anyone. So now teachers should be fired for what they express in private? Sounds like Orwell’s Thought Police.

Approx 60 years ago, I knew the political positions of a number of my teachers. Esp. the WWII vets. Never bothered me. No idea who they voted for. People with compatible positions, I’d guess.
Most big business is controlled by progressives, so I’m not sure what you’re point is.
I’m perfectly willing to accept honest environmental and climate science. What I’m not willing to accept is the anti-science climate alarmism intended to push a socialist big government agenda, like the Green Raw Deal.
I accept the true science that abortion is the killing of a human being.
I accept the genetic science that their are two genders, XX for female, XY for male. I accept the science that there may be the rare genetic abnormality. I accept the science that some people havegender dysphoria, and as a Christians we should be as compassionate as we are towards anyone with such a disorder.
Teaching multiple genders is politics, not science.

Teachers are entrusted with the responsibility of forming the next generation. They are held to a higher standard of behavior. Besides this is the internet, nothing is likely to stay private forever.

I disagree. Think of big oil, the mining interests and the environmental polluters. All were big contributors to Trump.
I take it from your comment that you use no petroleum products at all
Those big oil and mining interests have fueled the greatest economy and standard of living in the history of the world. If you know of a fuel source that can replace fossil fuels with similar cost, efficiency and reliability that polluted less, I’m all for it.

My your are off the topic! I think we can run those industries without fouling the planet. The interests (and metal finishers) basically want to operate with few environmental safeguards. They found allies in conservatives and the Trump administration.
Meanwhile, we had a large fish kill in Lake Michigan last year due to a cyanide leak from an Indiana steel plant. In IN (a GOP state) the state EPA basically said “Oh, dear!” The feds had been laying off the polluters. It took a lawsuit by an environment group to get the Trump administration EPA to do its job. How many pollution protection rollbacks has Trump fostered?

Might I ask what the story is here? A teacher was on Twitter. This was not even a school district, but one teacher in the United States asking a question on Twitter. There have been a lot of teachers do some pretty horrible things, and this one makes the news on FOX???

This country has done a phenomenal job in using fossil fuels and reducing emissions. Further, we have moved toward natural gas, and have become energy independent, cutting down transporting fossil fuels from others.
I grew up in a steel town. Not a single worker or manager tried to pollute. None there thought polluting where their families live was okay, either.
And, of course, the Obama EPA did such a great job. The Animus River is a stellar example.
