Hey everyone. I apologize for not updating you sooner. On Friday, September 20, Colton had an appointment with his specialist’s office in Indianapolis. We didn’t get to see his specialist because of an emergency in her family. We did get to see a nurse practitioner associated with the specialist’s office though. They were going to try to switch him to Pediasure or Boost 1.5 which is a high calorie version of what he is on now but the last time he was hospitalized, he was taken off the high calorie stuff because it was causing vomiting. He doesn’t need to be on the high calorie stuff since he is gaining weight and they are even happy with the rate at which he is gaining weight so I’m not sure why they wanted to change it. Anyway, I spoke up and told them that when he was hospitalized a few months ago, they took him off of the high calorie stuff because it was causing him to vomit more and I explained to them that I didn’t think it was a good idea to put him back on it because it would cause him to begin vomiting more again. Thankfully they listened to me and did not change the type of Pediasure that he is on and they also did not change the amount he gets of the number of times a day he gets it which is a very good thing. If he gets too much at one time, he vomits so I feel that it is important to keep the regimen the same for now since he is doing well on it.

Anyway, please continue to keep Colton in your prayers. I greatly appreciate it. Also, just so you know, we’ve been dealing with CPS for about a month now. I have no idea why they are investigating us when they have already told us we’re doing nothing wrong. We’re not neglecting Colton or anything but they are still harassing us. I feel like what they are doing is completely unjustified. Even Colton’s doctors say we are doing what we are supposed to do. So, if you would, please also pray that they would leave us alone as soon as possible.
 
You should get a lawyer to deal with CPS … they cause trouble at times where there is no trouble.

As for getting a lawyer to deal with CPS, we will consider doing that if they don’t close our case quickly enough.

Hey everyone. Thank you so much for your prayers. I greatly appreciate them.

Anyway, Colton really needs strong prayers now. He has been puking more frequently. He puked at school yesterday and he has puked twice today for me. I had to go to the ER last night via ambulance because of excruciating stomach pain and nausea. They were unable to determine what caused my stomach issues but they gave me some Zofran and it helped a lot. I had a little nausea today but not much. I don’t know if I had a stomach virus or what. I’m afraid that I might have had a stomach virus and that Colton may have caught it but I’m not sure. Regardless of what the case is, he is certain to not gain a whole pound at his weight check on Wednesday now. Hopefully, he will still gain some weight, even if it’s not a whole pound. If he continues puking, he could lose weight. I beg you to please pray for my son’s healing. We can’t afford for him to lose weight and we definitely need him to keep gaining weight.

Hey everyone. Thank you for your prayers for Colton and for my family. Anyway, Colton had his weight check on Wednesday and he lost 3/4 of a pound. His doctor does not think it was because of puking but because of less than normal appetite for him. I disagree. He puked a lot more than he normally does. His appetite was less than normal for him because he kept puking and was afraid to eat. I’m sure the weight loss was a combination of both things but I believe it was primarily due to his puking.

Anyway, CPS is still harassing us. I have decided that I am just going to cooperate with them for now. They seem to be trying to help us. They have a contract with a company that provides Parent Aides and David and I are both doing with her now. There has been a problem though. She seems to want us to abide by a strict feeding schedule that goes by the same times as what Colton’s school does. The problem with that is that weekend Mass times conflict with this schedule. She left me with the impression that I should miss Mass on weekends which, as a Catholic, I am obligated to go to instead of altering his feeding schedule for one day out of the week. I’m pretty angry about this. I refuse to miss Mass. I am going to talk with her some more and make sure she understands I am obligated to go to Mass on the weekends and see if there isn’t some way that I can just change Colton’s feeding schedule for that 1 day out of each week. Please pray for me on this issue. If she refuses to let me change Colton’s feeding schedule for 1 day out of the week so I can meet my obligation to God, I don’t know what I will do.

Anyway, I just want to make it clear that on when we do go to Mass on the weekend, I have always simply gave Colton his supper or lunch (depending on whether we go to Mass on Saturday or Sunday) an hour later than usual. He gets his tube feedings at the same time that he eats. He is not going without a meal on the day we go to Mass.

Thank you for your prayers for us. David talked to our parent aide about Mass on weekends and we are allowed to alter the meal schedule for the day we go to Mass.

I also have other good news. Colton has not puked since his appointment on Wednesday. He’s getting medicine for his acid reflux now and we have to do his tube feedings much slower. Those two things seem to have reduced his puking a lot.

Anyway, please continue to pray for Colton’s health.
 
Hi everyone. I have some bad news. David told me that Colton vomited last night during bath time. We believe that his iron medicine upset his stomach and caused him to vomit. David sent a message to Colton’s doctor and asked her what we should do. Please continue to keep Colton in your prayers.
