Poll: Americans See Tea Party Politicians More Negatively

And please tell me what more the Tea Party wants besides fiscal responsibility.
They are a type of latter-day nativist. They believe in a certain type of American, and no other. Look into Bachmann’s calls for a McCarthy-style purge. There are also strong racist elements in their ranks. Also, their economic philosophy is extremely neo-liberal, which disregards the poor, and disregards the power of social structure to determine individuals’ opportunities (i.e., they think the poor are lazy and that the rich are hard-working). Theirs is the most pernicious type of capitalism, which the Catholic Church has spoken out against on many occasions.
The budget was balanced during the Clinton administration after the GOP took control of the House where spending originates. They also drug Clinton to reform the welfare system which has since fallen by the wayside.
Yes, it was bi-partisan. Though someone else in here has argued that it wasn’t really balanced–which I can’t argue with. But, if you want to continue on with the partisan politics, then fee free to defend the most recent Bush administration’s destruction of the american economy.
Sorry if you were offended by Kood-Aide.
You should just be sorry for the Kool-aide comment, shouldn’t you? It’s offensive, whether I’m offended by it or not, so you should just be sorry for it. Comments like that aren’t conducive to reasonable discourse, anyway.
I was trying to think of a less caustic way to say what I wanted to say than what I was thinking.
In lieu of that, you thought it was fine to go ahead and be caustic? You made an argument about democrats that is equally applicable to Republicans and Tea Party proponents–i.e., you attacked one group for a characteristic common to all groups. I’d prefer the avoidance of all caustic remarks.
Since you are so opposed to the Tea Party objectives, tell me how we fix the financial mess the country is in. In view of this, please note that Ohio and Florida’s credit ratings have been raised in response to just the kind of measures the Tea Party has suggested.
Stop unnecessary wars. Stop allowing the rich to avoid taxation. Fund only productive social spending (i.e., spending that actually achieves its goal). Get rid of “free trade” and engage exclusively in “fair trade.” Quit allowing (or doing business with) companies that take production to developing countries and away from Americans. Find alternative sources of energy that are clean and do not cause global political/military conflict. Place social concerns ahead of economic concerns in every instance. AND, perhaps most of all, call on Americans to be responsible in their consumption habits and to acknowledge that they have been living too long on borrowed wealth (i.e., spend within their means, and live in a sustainable manner).

Problem solved. It’s going to take 50 years to get to where we need to be, though–and that assumes it isn’t too late.

Yes, indeed, thank goodness. We can’t be for cutting spending and balancing the budget. The only thing the poll proves to me is that people have no idea what the Tea Party stands for. They have lapped up the Kool Aid lines the Dems are throwing out.
It appears to me that the 29% gets all of its news from the mainstream media, which of course will try to denegrate the Tea Party and to cheerlead for Barack Obama; that’s their job as official propaganda organs for the Democrat Party.
Better than the approval rating of Congress it sounds like.
Touché!
Mary, if the Tea Party is God’s gift to American politics and they want not a single thing more than fiscal responsibility, why are they losing ground among the American electorate?
If Barack Obama is God’s gift to American politics who is going to give them hope and change and a reform the attitude in Washington, why is he losing support even from his own party and his core supporters, such as blacks and Hispanics?

I don’t think you need to be lecturing Mary on her post being offensive while posting offensive statements yourself.

Because he’s betraying the cause he ran on. Barrack Obama is the best Republican President the US has had in 23 years. This is the cost of trying to compromise. But, my guess, the fiscal scene (not the economic crisis itself, but the budget debate) will swing back the other way in the next six months, and Obama will pick up his lost support.

Is that really a fix, or is it just another antagonistic method?
It’s a recognition that liberals and conservatives will never, never, never, never, never, never never see Barack Hussein Obama in the same light.

You like him, we don’t. It’s a simple as that. Everything else is just garnish.

The OP provides the proof.
The OP only shows that people who would vote Democrat anyways are starting to take notice. For people who would vote for this kind of candidate, the criticism is that they haven’t done nearly enough.

Indeed, and your invocation Of his middle name explains everything. How to reconcile such an attitude with catholicism?

So, the poll was of likely voters? Did they get positive/negative data on Democrats, in general?

It seems to me, that Obama’s favorability has dropped much more dramatically. I guess it’s similar. People really liked him until they experienced his poor leadership.

Using a person’s proper name isn’t anti-Catholic. Thinking this has deep meaning kind of indicates some kind of islamophobia going on.

Yes I am suggesting islamaphobia On the part of those who go out Of there way to use his middle name.

I have no problem with your atttude. It’s like whoever the GOP nominee will be. I’ll not like him or her and will not vote for him or her regardless of the agenda. You, on the other hand, will. Usual standoff between the libs and the conservatives. 🙂

So what it is his name isn’t it. You suggesting he has something to hide? I know when my Mom was really interested in my immediate appearance she had no trouble addressing me by my middle name. Sometime so loud the entire neighborhood heard it!😉

Everyone is for cutting spending and balancing the budget. The budget was balanced during the Clinton administration, after all (a bi-partisan effort). The trouble is that the Tea Party folk represent something quite more than a desire for fiscal responsibility, and their fiscal philosophy is itself in question.

No need for hateful comments (i.e., Kool-Aide) in a Catholic forum, is there?
The budget was not balanced during the Clinton Administration. The national debt increased each and every year the Clinton was president.

People need to keep in mind that there is no “tea party” per se. That is is not a national party, has no uniform party platform and no officially recognized leadership.

The Democrat party, helped by the mainstream media, has decided to demonize a tea party as a strategy to get people to ignore the terrible mess they have made of things since they took charge of the Congress in 2006 and the presidency in 2008. When people go to vote in 2012 they’re not going to see the tea party listed next to the name of any of the candidates when they pull the lever. they will see merely a D or an R and remember the D stands for devastation of the economy

We’re sorry; only practicing Catholics may critique any given practice of Catholicism when applied to other Catholics. Atheists do not qualify for this privilege. That you for participating.

We understand each other quite well, Rich. 🙂

Don’t you just love it when Atheists lecture Catholics on the finer points of Catholic theology?
