Poll shows more Americans think Obama is a Muslim

The number of Americans who believe – wrongly – that President Obama is a Muslim has increased significantly since his inauguration and now account for nearly 20 percent of the nation’s population.

Those results, from a new Pew Research Center survey, were drawn from interviews done before the president’s comments about the construction of an Islamic cultural center near Ground Zero, and they suggest that there could be serious political danger for the White House as the debate continues.

The president’s religion, like his place of birth, has been the subject of Internet-spread rumors and falsehoods since before he began his presidential campaign, and the poll indicates that those rumors have gained currency since Obama took office. The number of people who now correctly identify Obama as a Christian has dropped to 34 percent, down from nearly half when he took office.

It’s a technique called “The Big Lie,” and it can be amazingly successful, as we’ve seen. According to wikipedia, the expression was coined by Hitler for a lie so huge, people would think it must be true, because they can’t believe you’d have the nerve to make the claim if it weren’t.

Maybe the fact he has demonstrated an ideology at odds with Christianity (anti-life stance etc.) since taking office is the reason so few people recognised him as such. As for the Muslim thing well like you say if a lie is told often enough and loud enough people start to believe it!

Except that it’s also generally an ideology that is at odds with Islam. Muslims tend to be socially conservative.

It may be obviously false to us, but to the true believers they have all the evidence and proof they need in any number of documents, eyewitnesses etc. that are being completely ignored by the media. To them no amount of contradictory evidence or critical thinking will dissuade them from believing Obama is whatever they are claiming him to be at that time.

I do not rely on polls to form an opinion, but after watching our president in action and learning what he has actually done and said since taking office, his “official” claim of being a Christian is not suported by his actions. He has consistently removed any protections for the unborn put in place by Executive order, he touts freedom to choose abortion including for his own hypothetical grandchild in the womb. These are his actions and statements, not any “big lies”. He did attend a Muslim school in his formative years and routinely refers to the contributions made by muslims to American society. He did not attent the National Prayer Day in DC but has attended a similar event held by the muslims. Perhaps this is what is forming the opinion of the average American, not any big lies!

And he did just Friday night talk to a group of Muslims in the White House kicking off the days of their Ramadan. Hmm…he has done a fair amount for the Muslim community that we have seen…ZERO for Christians.

I think the perception of anti Christian that he shows is because of his political correctness and being a lawyer.

Yet, he was caught taking off his shoes during Friday’s mosque service. He’s spent more time on vacation than at Sunday’s church service. I don’t believe he’s gone to church getting elected. Maybe he’s too busy with his El Presidente duties or chillin’ with celebrities over a game of basketball.

I have no definitive opinion on the matter, don’t really know one way or the other, but couldn’t he be a “Muslim sympathizer” without actually being a Muslim?

Obviously there are many lax/cafeteria/“Progressive” Catholics and I assume there are similar types of people in Islam. What does it matter if he is a lax Christian versus if he is a lax Muslim? Seems almost like six of one, half-a-dozen of the other. I mean, he continues to support abortion and homosexual “marriage”. He never goes to church or mosque (attending a conference/event at a mosque and adhering to their rules about taking off your shoes no more makes one a Muslim then attending an event/conference at a Synagogue and, as a male, adhering to their rules of wearing a headcovering * makes you Jewish).

If anything, Obama seems to be a dogmatic socialist, egoist and adherer to political correctness (which seems to put Islam on a pedestal even as it condemns Christianity).*

More importantly he is devout central planner.
