I am amazed at how public perceptions can be so easily shaped simply by repeating a message over and over, even when obviously false.

My favourite example of this is how by September 2003 70% of Americans were saying Saddam Hussein was personally involved in the 9/11 attacks after a year of several members of the Bush Administration repeatedly hinting at a connection but clever enough never to outright say it so they couldn’t later be accused of lying. It’s almost like hypnosis.

What people often miss out from that quote is that Hitler was describing the propaganda systems in the US and Britain; which he thought were a factor in Germany’s defeat in WWI, their propaganda being nowhere near as sophisicated so they couldn’t compete. So he promised to sort it out before the next war.

If you read Mein Kampf, he was referring to Jews.

Of course not.

But it would bother many Americans, unfortunately. This is clearly an attempt to portray Obama in a false and negative light in order to hurt him and his party.

Nonsense. You must have some negative feelings about Muslims or you wouldn’t be bothered in the least if people thought he was a Muslim. For instance if I was to say Obama is a Rotarian would you feel the need to come on here and inform everybody he is not and it is just a vicious rumor started by the right-wing media?

Another liberal myth. Bush said clearly and specifically many times that Saddam was not involved in 9/11. This whole alleged conspiracy rests on one out of context comment by Dick Cheney on a Sunday morning talk show that was immediately clarified the next morning.

You should see ones like 50% of Saudi Arabians support bin Laden’s views, or that in 2008, 40% of Egyptians and 31% of Jordanians believed Israel was behind the 9/11 attacks on the US

Maybe Herr Schicklgruber was on to something on the whole blaming Jews thingy.

If Obama was a muslim, how would we know how devout a muslim he was? Here, in CAF you will find many members reflecting thier feelings (right or wrongly so) on conservative vs. liberal (or cafeteria catholics). Generally speaking, most of the posters here are (or believe themselves to be) of the conservative variety. Or some may call them “extremeists”.

Might it not be stated that the muslim who are not in line with extremeists, “cafeteria muslims”? If Obama were a muslim, what kind of muslim might he be?

So why would it not be okay if one were to be bothered by Obama being a muslim? I’d think it would be quite troubling. And I would until I satisfactorily heard muslims denounce, as an entire people, terrorism and other practices whole-heartedly as NOT being of thier faith in any manner what-so-ever.

Another reason would be the deciet. If Obama proved to be muslim it would clear he hid this from the American people.

For the record, I do not believe he is. I believe he is a man of little faith in any religion based on what has been revealed to me about him from his own words and from the press.
 
I’ve suspected that Obama is a Muslim since the '08 campaign. But, I believed then that he was probably an atheist or muddled “spiritualist” of some sort. But after he covered up the Christian symbols at Georgetown, I knew that this ugly hostility toward Christianity betrayed his Muslim beliefs. Obama’s dismissive and contemptuous treatment of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu erased any residual doubts that I had. 😦 Rob

Then why all the concern that people might believe he’s a Muslim? We even have had people tell there is a right-wing conspiracy to convince people he’s a Muslim. Unless one thinks there is something wrong with being a Muslim why would you care. ?

You know very well why I care. Many Americans do not have a favorable opinion of Muslims. Conservative leaders know this and are exploiting it to their advantage. They are spreading lies about the President that play on deep seated fears and prejudices.

That is clear.

Well I don’t know why you would care. If there’s nothing wrong with being a Muslim why would you care in the least if people believe he is one?
