Americans increasingly are convinced - incorrectly - that President Barack Obama is a Muslim, and a growing number are thoroughly confused about his religion.

Nearly one in five people, or 18 percent, said they think Obama is Muslim, up from the 11 percent who said so in March 2009, according to a poll released Thursday. The proportion who correctly say he is a Christian is down to just 34 percent.

The largest share of people, 43 percent, said they don’t know his religion, an increase from the 34 percent who said that in early 2009.

I doubt Obama is muslim. However what I do find interesting is that he has not adopted a place of worship since he denounced his long time friend the Reverend Wright under scrutiny (clearly not of his own free will).

Perhaps as of this time he has. Last I heard his excuse was that he and his family would be too much of a distraction in a local (To Washington DC?) house of worship. So much for keeping the Sabbath day holy

Seems to me that perhaps, worship, simply does not hold a high priority. But I amy be mistaken. I have not seen evidence of it, certainly.

If he is a muslim, the degree of infultration is ingenuis, thus terribly firghtening.

Did the poll have a “Fabian Socialist” option?

If Pew did the polling, I doubt it. 😃

Since he is chosen to practice no faith it is no surprise that people are confused as to what faith he follows

Except that it’s also generally an ideology that is at odds with Islam. Muslims tend to be socially conservative.

He’s just a CHINO.
I agree he is most likely CHINO. I was simply stating his actions didn’t indicate Christianity, his opponents shout Islam and a lie said often enough will be believed by many

What was once said of Prime Minister Disraeli can be applied to President Obama:

“He’s a self-made man and worships his creator”

According to this survey, the number who believe he is a Muslim is actually 24%.

But if you think that’s crazy, check out this poll where a whole 28% actually think the country is headed in the right direction! 🤷

Perhaps not so falsely: youtube.com/watch?v=tCAffMSWSzY

The guy hasn’t talked or acted in a Christian way at all since he took office. He praises Islam and promotes myths about it.

Islamophobia, or a Muslim protecting his own? I don’t know, but he sure as heck ain’t a Christian.

From a Time poll from the NPR article in jj’s original link:
In addition, 61 percent opposed building the Muslim center near the Trade Center site and 26 percent said they favor it.
😉

He does not claim Islam is responsible for any inventions, simply that Muslims invented a great many things in the time before our renaissance and their downward spiral (thanks over expansion and Mongols!)- the second article does not dispute this.

The first article makes a habit of saying “well, this has its roots here, this was here already…” Which essentially means people were doing something slightly similar in an unrelated time that may or may not have led it’s fuller development in Islam. You can still invent something even if an inferior version has already popped up- for example steam power was first ‘discovered’ over 2000 years ago, but that steam power is completely unrelated to the steam power that popped up in the 1700’s.

Aren’t there like at least 3 different threads on this already? 😉
We have superb moderators here. They have the power to close threads if duplicates. There are many catagories it is impossible to scan all for duplicates prior to posting.

Perhaps, in an effort to get past this, a requirement might be to have the “Title:” precisely the title of the news article? Then duplication can be scanned for electronically.

Ingenious huh?

Maybe not.

Statistics do not lie, but they seldom tell the truth.

I would be in that big middle of “do not know.” I know what he says, but then I watch what he does and the two do not often mesh. History is replete with those who use some religion for political gain.

Love the “Falsely” in the headline.

Leftists protecting their own, I reckon.

Wow.

I am amazed at how public perceptions can be so easily shaped simply by repeating a message over and over, even when obviously false.
If Obama had practiced his faith in any way since becoming president these misconceptions would not come up. I’m also somewhat amused at supposedly tolerant people on the left believing considering Obama a Muslim is some kind of smear

If he is a Muslim, then he is a lousy one.

Islam and Abortion (Islam is a bit more tolerant of abortion than Catholicism, but abortion-on-demand is condemned as is late-term abortion, two things Obama seems to support)
Islam and Homosexuality

Again, if Obama were a Muslim, he’d be a lot more socially conservative than he is.
I thought the same thing. People would have to call him a MINO. 🙂

This poll must be more proof (if anyone was interested in proof) of brainwashing by the liberal mainstream media.

Don’t you mean the Conservative mainstream media?

They are the ones that are constantly framing Obama as a Muslim.
