If he is a Muslim, (it’s of course irrelevant to the Office of the President of the United States, which has no bar against that, but was still a bit disingenouous to the voters), then he’s not a very observant one. I would think that if he practiced his faith at all, that by now at least one meeting might of been interrupted, or some aide, or secret service, or congressman, or page, or somebody would have seen him during one of his 5 times daily prayers to Allah while prostrating and facing Mecca, si no? Just saying.
I have no beef with Moslems. I’ve got some problems with elements of their faith, as I’m sure they have with mine, and I have some definite problems with their extremists, but hey, good Moslems have problems with their extremists as well. Most that I’ve known or spoken to anyway in the U.S… I just wish that nobody would lie about their faith.
Of course, being a Catholic Christian with orthodox values and a hopefully genuine submission to the Church on issues of faith and morality, I’d love for a politician to become President who shared those views, and was guided by them in their decision making. Then at least I’d have a pretty good insight as to how things would go confronted with most situations. If nobody knows or understands what guides a President’s moral and ethical compass, or it’s simply the platform of some political party, then you don’t really have much idea.
We’ll never have a sincere Catholic President in this country. The ones in politics have this partitioning in their minds, and think it’s cool to be able to implement heretical ideas for the masses, because it’s the popular or (small d) democratic think to do. I guess that’s how it’s supposed to be around these parts, but we can still hope dream and try to elect an orthodox guided Christian, or even Anglican, or orthodox Orthdox. Something. We did have Jimmy Carter who was fairly religious, and GW Bush, but they had other problems, and presidents still must deal with a congress that’s hostile to orthodoxy of any stripe. Modernism, and an irrational faith in man over God has caused the worst case of relativistic groupthink since the reformation.
Or, I could just be venting some frustration at my election choices every couple years. In which case, just move on. Nothing to see here.
God’s blessings on all his children,
Steven
