Poll shows more Americans think Obama is a Muslim

Then you are the one being distracted from the real problems of America, the rest of us informed voters do not see it that way.
How am I being distracted. However, perhaps you are right I am being distracted. I am being distracted by seeing two manufacturers leave Chicago. One shut all production down and moved it to Mexico. The other was a family run contract manufacture who lost their business because majority of their work was shipped overseas.

Both non-union shops by the way. In fact the family job shop. I was there with them on the conference call when their big customer said “We can make this cheaper in India” and hung up on him.

I get distracted by the high-unemployment here and the falling wages. I get distracted by the increasing trade debt (part of our National Debt). Our increasing budget deficits all the while the tax base is decreasing and not increasing.

So perhaps you are right. I am distracted. Instead of focusing what religions are better than others and going after a group of people instead who are not Christian. Perhaps I should better focus on persecuting people instead of worrying about my country.

Neither. Maybe something or someone to distract us from both and make our voting choices emotional reactions rather than rational decisions?
His party would be far better off if the November elections did focus on whether or not he was a Muslim. Unfortunately for him I believe people are going to focus on the total incompetence of him and his party and addressing the problems of the country.

I am still very amused by his supporters being the ones who feel there’s something nefarious about him being considered a Muslim. Seems like they have bought into the negative stereotypes of Muslims that they ascribe to Obama’s detractors

I agree. Badgering him for being a supposed Muslim could actually garner sympathy for him. Like Clinton when the GOP was badgering him endlessly about his sex life. People felt sorry for him after a while.

Focus on the sky-rocketing debt, the outrageous spending, the ineptitude with handling the market, the cowardice in dealing with Iran, the failure of his “Race to the Top” merit pay nonsense in education, his disgusting handling of the Arizona situation, cash for clunkers, gays in the military, and worst of all the HORRIFIC health care bill. I could go on…LOL

The guy is a total disaster. He makes Carter look GOOD!

Why are you even here then?
Instead of focusing what religions are better than others and going after a group of people instead who are not Christian.
So, in your opinion, we should only be discussing what’s wrong with our county. Other concerns and conversations have no place in society. Did you really mean that?
Perhaps I should better focus on persecuting people instead of worrying about my country.
So, anybody who has a difference of opinion with Obama’s agenda is persecuting him.

I see “incompetence” is the new talking point…a little more specificity would be nice. 😉

If insisting that truth be upheld (as opposed to mischaracterizations and/or outright lies) means buying into negative stereotypes of Muslims, then I stand guilty as charged…and you are completely correct.

Another “conservatives are told what to think” post. I assume the"people who disagree with me are bigots" post will come shortly?

There is a tell that people often leave. It follows the argument that we ought not to oppose Muslims on any given issue, for it will drive some Muslims to extremism and violence.
Nobody would make the same argument about Christians. The underlying assumption (on behalf of people making such arguments) then must be an ver negative one abotu Muslims.

I think that there is a lot of truth in the idea that the negative stereotypes ascribed by many people to Obama’s detractors are really forms of projection.

As to the subject of the OP, could it be that people think that because Mr. Obama cancelled the National Day of Prayer at the White House and then attended a National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion held on Capitol Hill? It does give me pause.

Why should it give you pause? He has declared his faith for all to hear or haven’t you heard? If it changes I would imagine he’d be sure to let us know. BTW, I haven’t heard the Muslim event described as a National Day or Prayer for Muslims but as an Iftar.

At least the people who disagree with me tend to think up rebuttals of the points I’m making. You, on the other hand, seem to respond to my posts with generalizations, so I guess that would make you “not a bigot”…following your above characterizations?

Forgive me, I haven’t read all the posts. Billy Graham Jr says Obama is a Muslim by virtue of the fact that he had a muslim father, like a Jew is a Jew if he had a Jewish father.

That he attended a ramadan service but bagged church on Christmas says a lot to me. Everybody goes to church on Christmas.

As for Ridgrunner I never heard him say that all Muslims are bad and evil. As for can conservatives make rational informed choices? Yes they can. Rep. Ron Paul is one of them as well as others.

In my opinion you are either for the 1st Amendment or not. You are for freedom of religion or not. You either respect and show tolerance to other people, cultures and religions or not.

For me this is a wedge issue to distract us from the real problems with America today.
Would you believe that the Westboro Baptist Church should be protected under freedom of religion?

Here’s my theory about Obama and the Democrats with their simpering sudden passion for Islam.

They’re NOT Muslims. But Democrats always sympathize with the bad guys. It’s their M.O. They sympathize with bad behavior. They’re the first ones to be concerned with fellons in prison that these thugs get DVD players, weights to lift and plenty of conjugal visits. They are concerned with homosexuals getting their fair share of things. They always feel sorry for terrorists wanting them treated like they’re at the Hilton rather than condemning their sickening mass murder. Democrats always feel sorry for the woman aborting the baby, not the baby. They always side with the trial attorneys and the lawsuit folks. They instinctively were embarrassed when Reagan called Russia an “Evil Empire.” They issued apologies. They felt sorry for Iran, Iraq, and North Korea when Bush called them an Axis of Evil. They have this simpering, wimpering passion for what they believe is the “underdog.”

They don’t believe in Islam, no way. They couldn’t. Why? Because Islam is chauvenistic and anti-woman when Dems are extremely into the feminist movement. Muslims are pro-life with abortion, Dems are pro-‘choice.’ Muslims are violent, Dems have become pacifists. Muslims are the epitome of organized religion and Dems are not fans of that either. Muslims are anti-gay, Dems are pro-gay.

So then why could ultra liberals pity Muslims? Easy. They’re the perceived “underdog” and “bad guys” right now. The American public overwhelmingly doesn’t trust Islam nor does it want a mosque at the 911 site. So the Dems look at it as an underdog crusade and another civil rights crusade. They’ve caught the sent of a persecuted community and they’re addicted to the ‘cause’ whatever the cause is for the underdog. They’re chaotic in their thinking and their morality. They’re truly bizarre and dangerous.

With all due respect, our president has said a lot of things, many of them a bit far from the truth. I have heard him say he is a Christian, I just don’t happen to believe him.

Actually, for Jews, I think it is the mother but I may be wrong. Per Graham’s own faith, all it takes to become a Christian is to accept Christ so his unnecessary comments about Obama’s absentee father’s religion really seems to indicate some confusion over the faith Graham the elder passed on.
