Like building walls? Like the Berlin Wall? or the wall Trump wants to build between the US and Mexico? Leader of the free world has access to things that only a responsible person should have access to, not one who shows himself like Trump shows himself…
I would love to hear your idea for keeping terrorists from sneaking over our unprotected borders. We have too many illegal immigrants here. We welcome those who apply to come via the legal means, of course.

We have too many illegal immigrants because the rules to become a citizen are TOO strict and there are too many people drawn to the US in search for a better life than what they know… Can’t you understand that? .

Sounds like you’re just a conservative republican who has found some good catholic arguments for why your beliefs aren’t only just those - beliefs - but the “catholic belief”.

I would not want to risk ISIS operatives sneaking in. Those who want to come are willing to wait…because they are willing to work for it.

We have so many of our own we can’t properly care for - like our homeless vets.

Maybe you should live where the illegal immigrants lived for awhile and then you would understand and be more empathetic towards them.

empathy is not a catholic value. Haven’t you read the gospels?!?!?!

You betcha! lol

The point being that people supported Hitler who sold them a bill of goods until he was in power and in complete control of the situation. He’s right the people who follow him are very loyal…

… even to the point of selling their souls. Honestly I don’t know how americans can be falling for this guy, except theres probably that many people who are just like him… 😦
You lose credibility by continuing to support your assertion. You would do well to walk it back and move on to real issues. You have been outed as using a rhetorical tactic that is out of the realm of honest debate. Cut your losses.

I’m facinating by your hammering of trump with your refusal to name any other acceptable candidate and unless I missed your comments on the other threads a refusal to hold anyone else accountable to your standards of trump. As someone interested in life, your condemnation of the other candidate should be ten times as loud.

Your view of the border situation with Mexico is incoherent. You are mixing terms like “refugees” and arguing a moral principle that has never been used in all of salvation history. Wall building is as old as nations. And it can be holy.

Any one in the U.S. who supports wall building over employer fining obviously does not understand the cause of illegal immigration.

'what does the Pope and the Bishops have to tell us about immigration policy?

The cause is cultural, social, and economic. Having an unsafe open border is foolish and unsafe. People are coming in with no language and no way to better thier lives and they are doing so en mass. In a way that is not only NOT bettering thier lives, but endangering them. And ours as well. Should we be a refuge? Absolutely, do we have a responsibility to our own citizens. Yes.

but condemning them to poverty. Yikes that’s arrogant of us.

There are parts of the Midwest that are worse than what they are escaping.

There’s no excuse for that given our nations overall wealth. Now in a nation where there is political unrest and widespread poverty there is a reason for people wanting to escape to the US.

I beg to disagree, empathy is a Catholic value of suffering. Jesus suffered Himself which allowed God to understand what it feels to be ‘human’ and experience human suffering.

Though I fundamentally disagree with you. If I were to concede that the us should allow all those who have it worse to come in, it doesn’t change the fact that in a climate of clashing between east and west, in a climate of drugs and guns, our nation should be secure from border crossing. From poor or evil people. A wall has nothing to do with allowing our nation to allow or not allow more immagrints legally.,

As for it being better here, the poor rarely get to enjoy that and are segregated and doomed to cheap corporate slavery.

And there being riots and cops being shot and the Midwest being what it is along with future Zika virus in southern states and our wars here on our own turf. … Let’s not be so sure we are providing the rest of the wold a better life.

Perhaps you think we should relocate all poor people of the world to south Chicagoland or Detroit.

Charity begins at home.

But back to the topic. How have you justified your votes in the past? I can’t imagine a person meeting your standards.
And what of a strait answer to a better candidate. No condemnation of Hillary?

So odd…

Political unrest and widespread poverty?

Have you seen the news lately!?

Why would anyone go to a different country if they didn’t think they would be safer or have a better opportunity?

Safety in th US is better than most countries (Thank God). However, the economic reasons are just as important. Arizona and the general economic environment are a good example of this. When it was no longer economically better to be in the U.S., the number of illegal immigrants went down.

Basic economy rule, demand and supply will find a balance. If there is no demand for illegal labor, illegal immigration will decrease.

I was being sarcastic…

I wonder if all those immigrants who came through Ellis Island worried about the dangers over the possibility of living a better life. They had no language and no way to provide for themselves, and came in masses… Often they took dangerous jobs like working in mines just to put food on the table. Still they thought it was better than what they had.

Yes, if you’re comparing our nations politics and living conditions to say those in Mexico or the Middle east I believe you better think again.
