Guy or girl, her remark was completely uncalled for.I’m a guy.
Thank you for correcting me.

You’ll notice that Pelosi, Biden, etc. have already had their excuses ready, long before Pope Francis was even on their radar. Can’t blame it on him.Come now. You really think people like Pelosi and Biden WON’T (unfairly) use the pope’s words in a manner like this:
“While I would never personally condone or suggest abortion, I feel that focus on such a divisive issue is not productive in our society today and like Pope Francis, I believe that my duty as a faithful catholic is to focus my energies what can actually achieve the most good.”
Never underestimate the power of political sophistry. They’ll say things like the above while actually voting to fund Planned Parenthood, force taxpayers to pay for Plan B, and plenty of worse things to come.
But never before have they been able to turn to a Pope to back up their error. (Not saying it’s right.)You’ll notice that Pelosi, Biden, etc. have already had their excuses ready, long before Pope Francis was even on their radar. Can’t blame it on him.
Your ignorance is incredible. Your liberal buzzwords are useless.I love this pope…
Dude is actaully listening to Jesus… not following hatred… I never could see Jesus saying (gays are bad mckay)…
The problem was with their hearts, not with their laws.
- Wrong. Matthew 18:6 is pretty explicit on that. I’m still waiting for the Church to turn Jesus’ recommendation into actual policy…
- Um… no. Where did you get the idea that Pharisees were sinful? They lived their lives by Mosaic Law.
His predecessors never promoted hatred either. They also “actually listened to Jesus” too. I I strongly encourage you to bypass the media’s biased reporting and get to know the Popes through their own words.I love this pope…

That he’s a kind, caring man?3000 babies murdered in the womb every day - in the US alone - and the Pope has nothing to say on their behalf?
Jesus said the world will hate his followers. What does it say about Pope Francis that the world loves him?
No that is not a personal attack at all. He wrote the words, which were completely unfair and disrespectful. That is very unfair of you to accuse her of that. That is a personal attack on her good name and character.
So anyone seeing this differently than you do is disrespectful, eh?No that is not a personal attack at all. He wrote the words, which were completely unfair and disrespectful.

Do you think Pope Francis would have lashed out?No that is not a personal attack at all. He wrote the words, which were completely unfair and disrespectful.
Interestingly enough, it does. Translating it as “sin” does not do the verse justice. See:
- You and I understand Matthew 18:6 to be applicable, but it’s not remotely explicit. If it were explicit, he’d need to define sin. For someone who doesn’t consider it a SIN for a man and a child to have sexual contact, it no longer seems to apply, does it?
Of course. Now: read Jesus’ anti-Phariseic rant in Matthew 23. Can you find any Catholic clergymen who match the descriptions therein?
- Jesus’ problem with the Pharisees wasn’t with the actual teaching, it was with the way that they used legal sophistry to do evil and call it good. You might recall the occasions he called them “broods of vipers?”
Most of all, indeed.I think the secular press will misinterpret or outright misrepresent the Pope’s words for some time to come. It’s pablum for their constituency, and perhaps to dissident Catholics most of all..
I agree but he should not rephrase what he thought the Pope said.To all those accusing people like AdvanceAlways of attacking the Pope: it is perfectly alright to disagree with any Pope or even criticise them as long as being respectful. We as Catholics do not have to agree with a Pope except on definitive teachings and pronouncements.
It seems that the so called “liberals” (proper term would be modernists, and modernism has been declared by the Church to be a heresy) are fine with questioning faithful Catholics and even Popes on settled dogma but raise an outcry when others simply question the appropriatness or effectiveness of a particular way in which the Holy Father has expressed himself.

I did not rephrase what the Pope said, I said quite plainly how the media is taking it, and the ramifications of these words, which I do believe will be disastrous.I agree but he should not rephrase what he thought the Pope said.
Again, let me remind people that if you do not like the way the Pope expresses himself or how he lead the Church, you have the many, many bishops and cardinals that voted him in so quickly. No one has brought them up. They knew what a Jesuit priest was like and they knew he would live and teach the way he has done so far. It is their responsibility to know that before they vote.
Today I released a statement to the press regarding the Holy Father’s recent interview in La Civiltà Cattolica and America magazine. I would like to share it with you.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 19, 2013
CARDINAL DOLAN’S STATEMENT ON POPE FRANCIS INTERVIEW IN LA CIVILTÀ CATTOLICA AND AMERICA MAGAZINE
In his interview in La Civiltà Cattolica, and America magazine, our Holy Father confirms what has been apparent during these first six months of his papacy: that he is a man who profoundly believes in the mercy of a loving God, and who wants to bring that message of mercy to the entire world, including those who feel that they have been wounded by the Church. As a priest and bishop, I particularly welcome his reminder that the clergy are primarily to serve as shepherds, to be with our people, to walk with them, to be pastors, not bureaucrats! It is becoming more evident every day that we are blessed with a Pope who is a good shepherd after the heart of Christ.
