so who is in denial?

If you think that Catholics are lost, why are you here?

Well, so long as you are aware that this type of “seed sowing” is considered proselytizing, and it is forbidden by the forum rules to attempt to pull Catholics away from their faith. This forum is not provided to you for that purpose, but for those who genuinely want to learn about Catholicism to ask questions and have dialogue.

It is not here for you to “witness” to us.
Can you find one post of mine that shows me proselytizing?

Interesting. I note that you don’t even have the simple honesty to acknowledge your many historical errors (Marcian and the Council of Nicea?) That YOU could make such fundamental (ha) errors and tout yourself as a scholar to teach others is risible.

Can you find one post off mine that shows me proselytizing?
Good evening, believers. Can you tell me what the seed is that you are sowing?

i am not trying to seed sowing as you say. i am asking questions and bring up topics of discussion. but i see you are of the mindset, that if a person does not think like you or fit your 'mold" he is proselytizing. sounds a little like censorship to me.

Lavazza, the remark on seed sowing was addressed to believers, not to you. That is very clearly indicated in both my post and guanophores.

So before you strike up the ad hominems, might I suggest you read more carefully?

i want all of you to understand, that i believe in jesus and our church. but i will not brush over, or not talk about our shortcomings and faults.

The Word is clear about who are chained in hell. The angels (sons of God) who did not obey from the Old Testament who went into the “daughters of men” from before the time of Noah. Unless you’ve read the OT, you’re not going to understand this.
I’ll go back to what I said, since you’re clearly not answering the questions raised: demons will not listen to Him. They will not profit from any preaching, since they have long taken it upon themselves not to obey God. So clearly Jesus could not descend to Hell to preach, since no amount of preaching can get these spirits to Heaven. Unless you think demons can become angels again. Have you heard, by the way, of Sheol?

Wonderful, believers, I’m sure we can all share the many truths that we hold in common. Like you, I believe (as the Nicean Creed states) in God, the Father Almighty. I believe that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary. I believe He suffered, died, and rose from the dead.

And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

Now, in the last paragraph, you and I will differ over just about every word’s interpretation. What I offer is that my (our) Church interpretation is one that would be recognized as truth by every person standing there when that Creed was formulated in Nicea, that my (our) Church interpretation not only was the same then, but continues the same today.

Nicea was very good. we can thank marchion for that. if he did not put luke and pauls writings together. we would never have had the bible that we know till much latter, he was branded a herotic, because he rejected all other writers. that was eher they came up with the laws regarding the NT.

I don’t know what else to say. These are fallen angels (Sons of God) that were disobedient and went into the “daughters of men”. They are now chained in hell. Just read Genesis. Jesus must have said something to them when He went to hell.

Um, with respect, and I thought I had already pointed it out --no.

Nicea–325. The Nicene CREED.

Marcian – Emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire, 450-457. Friend to Byzantium. Venerated (with his wife) as a saint by the Orthodox church. Nothing whatsoever to do with ST. Luke and ST. Paul.

Where ever did you get Marcian, St. Luke and St. Paul, heresy, and the council of Nicea so mixed up???

The Jews believe in Sheol, the abode of the dead in Judaism. You perhaps did not take that into account, did you now, and just jumped over and thought those in prison were these disobedient demons? Like I said, you’re not cutting it, since demons would never listen to Jesus. We saw that in the Gospels.

what was the outcome of this class action lawsuit?

It’s the content that’s important, not his writing style. There is a lot of truth to what was stated in those two paragraphs. Actually it’s very impressive what he was able to cover with such a remarkable economy of words. Here’s what I think he attempted to cover;
Let’s start with Mary, the mother of Jesus. Catholicism still teaches that she died a virgin. But Jesus had brothers…so say’s the Bible. The Catholic church views her as co-redemptress with Jesus. But the Bible teaches that there is only one mediator between God and man, and that is the Christ Jesus.
Patron saints,The Pope, and Mary are all mediators to the Catholic church. But the Bible teaches that when Jesus died on the cross, the veil in the temple was torn, and we now have access to God. We don’t need a priest, The Pope or Mary.

Heretical, or blasphemous teachings by any group will be judged by God some day. Things like purgatory, indulgences and works based salvation are clever inventions intended to drive people away from a relationship with God. They are not scriptually sound by any standard.

God Bless,
Robert

i question, if james was jesus’s brother, why would he have told john to watch his mother from the cross? it is the tradition of the time to have a son watch the parenr, not a person from outside the family.
