Every Catholic is commanded to “love” the pope…Pope Francis is the pope today.

We are not to love him in an emotional sense, but in a filial sense. Our love is based on the office - the Pope is the Vicar of Christ on earth and we LOVE that he has been appointed the custodian and defender of the Deposit of Faith. His personality, opinions, and lovability are completely irrelevant to his office.

Satan is the Father of Lies. Satan attacks the truth. He can work on our emotions to corrupt the truth. This is why it is necessary to objectively look at facts. One such fact is that, in spite of his known homosexual activity (as evidenced by payments Church made to victims), McCarrick was protected and allowed to rise through the ranks to one of the most powerful positions in the Church.
  • Where is ANY investigation into this evil?
  • WHO doesn’t want the truth to become known?

I understand that you were not accusing me directly and I also used “you” too loosely and will attempt more clarity. We probably do not agree on this matter but we can be agreeable!

Can I offer a scenario?

I’d argue that their were people who “covered-up” - I just don’t believe, personally that the Pope(s) knew the full extent of McCarrick’s exploits.

Was their missteps? Sure, probably - But they are human. they make mistakes. I MAKE MISTAKES.

What I wont do is slander the Pope - like the majority of social media commentators.

I’m sorry, I wont do it.

Do I want the truth? Sure. Will I repay evil with evil? No.

You can put your belief in anything you choose, I suppose. But it is wise to put belief in any mere man?

God promised the gates of hell would not prevail against the Church, not against members of the Church, even a pope.

And, NO, I am not slandering Pope Francis for stating this. Nor am I suggesting that the gates of hell have prevailed against the pope. I’m making the distinction between a pope and his office.

Obviously there were mis-steps and mistakes. That’s why we have a crisis of homosexuality in the Church. That’s why 29 bishops have now called for an investigation into the McCarrick case. Yet there is no investigation nor any word as to when an investigation might begin. Only silence in the face of the Great Accuser?! And this reveals the truth?

The only way to combat the evil is with the truth!
