You only have a perverted “unity” if you ignore these things.
who is ignoring anything, i live the Australian sexual abuse scandal. come to my parish anytime you wish and immerse yourself in the culture of a parish , a diocese who has a cardinal on trial, and many priests , religious and laity in jail for these crimes. Talk to my bishop, the man responsible for fixing the mess and providing a ground for unity amongst the survivors, the families of those who didn’t survive and the parishoners. and the clergy and religious who have to deal with this daily.

its so easy for people to sit back and make comments , but live this reality. look at whats going on, look at how the media try to pervert everything. We have media pretending to be parishioners, coming in to the church and trying to interview people on what a cardinal may or may not have done, what we think of a cardinal who was once our parish priest.

look at what a person says, and how that is perverted in media redaction.

my parish, my diocese is why we had an Australian Royal commission. for crimes committed. its why the government wants to have mandated reporting across the board, including from the confessional.

True and credible are not the same thing, they aren’t even synonyms. Credible means that something is reasonable to believe, and the accusations are certainly reasonable.
Excellent points Ghosty!

and if you believe its the truth, you believe its credible, if you don’t believe its the truth, you don’t believe its credible.

the accusations are not reasonable, there is no proof at this point, show me the written documents. or its all hearsay

Criminals can tell the truth and be credible. it is not dependent on their criminal history

and you will find all priests and religious and laity here in my diocese who were brought up against charges said, yes I did it.

But I am not appealing to “the media”.

I am echoing what Pope Francis has said and a plethora of our own Bishops are saying.

This needs to be addressed.

I am not making any public conclusions about the results (yet).

But we need transparency and the Holy Father WILL be addressing this situation publicly.

WE have a choice, we are either Catholics that support our Catholic church , because we are the body of the church,
or
we are catholics that are promoting disunity, division and destruction of the church;

its a hard lesson to learn, Australians learnt it,
it meant over Easter, in some masses there are only 8 people , because of a direct result of the scandals.

People could not come to mass, they could not engage in the church at such a critical time in the Holy year. They could not celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and our salvation history, because of this disunity and how it made them feel.

try coming to a mass with a bishop and 8 people.

No, that is not how it works. If something is reasonable then it is credible, even if it turns out to be false.

I have to ask: is English your first language? If not then there might be nuances that you are missing, and that would be totally understandable. I will be more discerning in my use of words if there is a language barrier.

no thats not how it works. it it is not the truth, it is not credible

Jesus taught us that.

There have been two statements in the letter that have been corroborated by a second source. In addition, NCR reported that the Pope Emeritus said he had placed sanctions on McCarrick.

Furthermore, the letter itself details many things that Vigano had direct knowedge of. By definition, that is not hearsay.

ETA:. CNA is now reporting that McCarrick did move out of the seminary at the end of 2008, that is a fourth point that is now corroborated. Vigano’s letter might not be 100% accurate, but as a whole, it is looking more and more credible.

What Vigano did or didn’t do in the last has zero to do with the reality of what Pope Francis did or didn’t do.

Not responding, avoiding, and not being forthright is one of the primary reasons the Church is in the mess it is. I dont expect the Pope to say something in the moment (unless it was 100% false, since he’d be clamoring to say so), but a response to something that has timelines and details as this certainly does require a response.

I expect the Pope to be more forthcoming in his response
"Senator, is it true that you beat your wife?"

It is a direct question which could be answered by a simple yes or no. Should the senator dignify such a question by answering it? It is not clear that the senator needs to respond.

This is not at all like that question. The Holy Father has proved to us time and time again that he is terrible when it comes to answering questions from the press, unfortunately. To tell investigative journalists to investigate it themselves is ridiculous on it’s face.

The first thing an investigative journalist is going to do is to ask the Pope, if there is any truth to the AB’s claims. That’s what they did. The Holy Father had a few options. “No, it’s all rubbish, and I’ll give a more complete response in the coming days.” “Yes, it’s all true, and I’ll give a more complete response in the coming days.” “Some of it is true, but there are some errors in his testimony. I’ll give a more complete response in the coming days.” To tell them I’m not saying anything, go investigate it and get back to me is just terrible.

Would probably depend on whether lots of that Senator’s staff had recently been in the news for beating their wives…

I speak Australian, mate, we have low tolerance for he said she said, ’

Its put up or shut up here. You want to be a tall poppy and bring others down, prove your claim.

And as yet, we have other news reports citing the ex nuncio destroying documents!

viva la Holy Father Pope Francis!

oh and btw Americans speak a different type of English to Australians.

You say tomato I say tomato. This is my experience during the multiple times I have been in the states 🙂

we can’t have fake news for one leader and expecting another to ask how high, when the press says jump

I didn’t say he had to say “how high.” In fact, I gave three much smarter responses. You may be okay with the Holy Father basically telling the press, who are there on our behalf, to stuff it and go check it out on their own. As a Catholic who loves the Church, I look to the Holy Father to calm the waters.

Why do you read such venom in what Holy Father Pope Francis said to the press on a press conference on his plane home from Ireland.

That wasn’t the form nor nature of the questions asked.
