In my experience, the only people who ever talk about or mention Fatima are of the opinion that the consecration hasn’t been done, so the impression I formed was that this was the general view.
The reason it may seem that the only people who talk about it are of the opinion that it hasn’t been done may be because those that oppose the Church’s position on this are vocal, but they really are a very, very small minority. All those who are both in authority and in the best position to know have repeatedly said the consecration has been done.

With so many things this minority isn’t so happy about, I’m not surprised they’re unstatisfied with what the Church already did.

Thank you Vames for these. I enjoyed seeing them very much. Especiallly the one of her seemingly in the ceiling.

In reflecting on this devotion to the Theotokos that the Russian Orthodox have it would seem like they have already consecrated themselves to her. So to answer my own question in as far as I can with what knowledge I have it would seem that they were in union with the Pope already when he consecrated Russia to her.

P.S. on a side note to my last post about the errors of Russia, I believe the Catholic Church sees it as there were errors on bothe sides that cause the split between the Eastern and Western Churches. From what I remember of the book of my fathers this was what it was trying to explain also. Not sure if that helps clarify anything but I hope and pray it does.

Sorry to add on/clarify here:o but I believe the errors were how things were handled verses doctrinal.

Indeed, there are a lot of miraculous icons of the Theotokos with a long tradition of protecting Russian cities and provinces from wars, diseases, famine, natural catastrophes. Here’s Our Lady of Vladimir, the Lady who saves Russia. Another is Our Lady of Kazan (note the connection with JPII and Fatima). And Our Lady of Theodore is the patron icon of the Romanov dynasty, who ruled Russia until 1917.

And here’s Pope Francis talking now precisely about the icon of the Protecting Veil: 🙂
This age of “such great spiritual turmoil” reminded the Pope of an ancient Russian icon that depicts Our Lady covering the people of God with her mantle: “We pray to Our Lady to protect us, and in times of spiritual turbulence the safest place is under the mantle of Our Lady. She is the mother who takes care of the Church. And in this time of martyrs, she is the protagonist, the protagonist of protection: She is the Mother. (…) Let us state with faith: Mother, the Church is under your protection: Care for the Church.”

Vames,…thank you so much for sharring this with us. It moved me so much. May we always be under the protection of her veil.

My family had an Icon of the Theotokos depicted like The Theotokos of Protection. I, for some reason, always thought she was called the Theotokos of Intersession or Petitions. I thought the cloth she held in her arms was how she took all our prayers of intersesion and petitions and carried them up to God in it. I have spent many long hours in front of her and shed many tears of sheer frustration, anger, anguish and pain and also joy and thanksgiving. After our family broke up I was privileged to be allowed to take her with me. Now I have her hanging in our home. I know she has been with me through thick and thin. She has let me lament on her knee and dried my tears and has shared all my joys and sorrows with me as she keeps leading me to her Son. So many long conversations I have seemingly had with her over the years trying to sort through so much pain and confusion I was in. I so pray with Pope Francis that others will find the comfort and protection and guidence that she offers us like she gave me and still gives me to this day. I do not know what I would have done during some of the darkest times in my life if I had not had her to turn to. I am forever thankful for her calming and peaceful presence in my life. She truly has been and still is a safe heaven for me and my family. I so pray others will come to know her and how much she can help us on our journey to and with her Son, our God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Thank you again so much for the link. Can not wait to read the full text of what Pope Francis said. In just the part in the link I did read moved me very much and has given me lots to dwell on.

Just to add a question to keep the discussion going concerning the errors of Russia that Our Lady of Fatima warned of, does the Russian Orthodox Church deny the primacy of the successor of Peter among the bishops of the world? Would it be dangerous as a Catholic to break union with the pope? What would be the consequences?

I can only share with you how I understand it so far…

It is my understanding that just because of the fact that they are not in full communion with the Catholic Church then they do not fully accept the Guidance or Leadership of the Catholic Church in some capacity. The Pope being the head of the Catholic Church’s Guidance and Leadership tells me they do not fully accept him and his guidance and leadership.

Yes, from what I understand it would be. The way I see it is the Church is the Mystical Body of Christ. The Pope is the voice of Christ. To break away from him would be breaking or severing ourselves from Christ. It is to our own detriment and peril and loss that the more we are not united with the Pope’s Guidance and Leadership regarding issues of Faith and Morals. to include Dogmas, the more we tear apart the Mystical Body of Christ. The one thing that I see really tearing the Mystical Body of Christ apart is that because it is my understanding that it is the Pope in union with the Bishops is how the Holy Spirit guides us into the fullness of Truth. The more Bishops not in union with the Pope the harder it is for the Holy Spirit to guide us. I am reminded of what I heard Archbishop Cyril say. The Bishop’s are the walls of the New Jerusalem. They are the voice of Christ. If we are with them then we are with Christ. If we are against them we are against Christ. When I reflect on his words I can not help but wonder how strong those walls will be or how loud the voice of Christ will be when the Bishops of Christ’s Mystical Body are fully united.
.
I hope and pray this makes sense. Please understand this is just how I see and understand things right now and if I do not understand things correctly I hope and pray some one can offer more insight, clarity and guidance to this. I myself would like to understand it better.
